Ali sometimes struggled as an aggressor as Young exploited. In that clip you can see how poorly Ali leaves himself exposed, he clearly didn't think Cooper could hurt him. I suspect he would fight different against aggressive known punchers like Dempsey and Marciano.
Ali was fortunate in this fight not to be Dq'd. He was given smelling salts between rounds to recover which was a banned stimulant in Britain at the time.
Beautiful punch by Cooper he stepped into it perfectly.

You're spot on, just look at Ali's next fight against Liston he fought completely differently.
He was very disciplined, I always think it's one of Ali's most underrated efforts.

It would be a fair question except that Marciano was cut by a wayward elbow ,not a punch.Marciano was a bleeder though, and cut in just about every major fight.

 

There is a reason Jim Wicks ,Cooper's manager said he would not allow Cooper into the ring with Sonny Liston.That is the same reason he would never have countenanced him fighting modern giants.
