Nahhh i dont think so. Corrales never achieved what Barrera did. I mean Barrera beat mckinney, salud, hamed, jaurez, morales, kelley, and so on. Corrales never had a career of that caliber. Corrales was a good lanky hitter but was never anything special, barrera at his peak was one of the finest mexican fighters ever
That expression is true! But like I said I was just comparing title legacy and comparing statistics. Top elite fighters? :think Not many aside from Morales and Hamed I will freely admit that BUT he has faced quite a number of good fighters with good records at the time like Toledo [24-2-1] , Benavides [40-4-1], McKinney [28-1-1], Maui Diaz [27-1] and Pastor Maurin [42-1]to name a few. Now my question to you is, how many top elite fighters has Hernandez faced?
well he faced and beat azumah nelson who is a HOFer and ATG, paez is probably up there with hamed, and he beat a future world champion in carlos hernandez who was undefeated but not a world beater.....the way i see it is MAB and chicanito are both ATGs and pac fans should acknowledge that..
Casamayora was a great boxer and imo, a better boxer than MAB. You guys act like getting beat makes you a piece of trash! Oh wait hasn't Pac Man been knocked out 3 times.and have 5 losses and 1 draw?
Chico is a great fighter, he was definitely no bum! but the thing that is stopping him from being an ATG in my opinion is the weak title legacy. I know I know titles don't make the fighter but when looking at the big picture and comparing him to the past greats, it is something to consider and he just falls short in that department in my viewpoint. Of course this is just my view and my criteria! If you see him as an ATG I really dgaf!
They both great wins, but even a faded MAB was still a better win. Like Pacman, MAB was also a fighter that started at flyweight, and he did get the better of Chico in sparring. Floyd's contemporaries were Castillo, Chico, Casamayor, and Freitas, of those he only faced Chico, who he obliterated, and Castillo, who has an unofficial win over Floyd, and of course lost the rematch, but made Floyd work hard for it. Pacquiao took on his contemporaries head on, Morales and MAB past their primes, but still top of their division, while the darkhorse Marquez still in his prime. The Mini Fab 4 of Morales, Dinamita, Pacman, and MAB will always, ALWAYS be a step above the jr lightweight/lightweight squad Floyd faced or was supposed to face (Castillo, Corrales, Casamayor, Freitas) Johnston would have made it hell for Floyd too. But I will say you do have to give Floyd credit for an overlooked win, Chicanito Hernandez, who imo was just as good if not better than Chico. People forget Chicanito only got whooped by a prime Oscar and Floyd when Chicanito was past his prime, and he still made both Oscar and Floyd work hard for the win. He even caught Floyd off balance. Prime Chicanito was scary good.
corrales is a great fighter i agree, but my argument was that he was an undefeated fighter going in as a favorite to beat floyd @130 lbs...now comparing that win to pacs win over a tired begining to fade champion in MAB only 2 1/2 years later, i'd say chico was the better win... but if were going to compare careers MAB acomplished a lil more, going by title wins and divisions and all that stuff... but like i said this thread was made to compare floyds and pacs best win...if floyd beat MAB and PAc beat CHico im sure that the turds would be saying that chico was the best win.... May 2nd all the shiet is coming to an end doe!:hammertime
nahh. barrera x2 morales x2 marquez x2 is better than fighting an unfocus post prison chico man. x100000
The Barrera win was a better win name wise for Pac than Chico for Floyd...but how he fought Pac is what matters. It looked like MAB didn't try while Chico did. MAB didn't show up for the fight. To me he seemed past it. And he was, imo. He beat EM one more time a guy stylistically he always gives trouble, and Jaurez. He was never elite again. The controversey surrounding MAB and some head/brain surgery which they say didn't affect him, and Chico and his personal matters don't make this either mans best win or anything comparable in my eyes. What Floyd did to Chico was 100 times better than what Pac did to MAB. Now it might be their best performances to some, but not their best win imo. I didn't believe Pac was the real deal until he, in my eyes beat JMM in that first fight. Chico was just a tough guy who would fight anyone anywhere at any time. We didn't get a chance to see if he had longevity. Barrera was a hyped up guy who was all offense back then who turned out to be a very good fighter after Junior Jones stopped him. Chico's story was stopped prematurely.
Barrera also went to a good winning streak after losing to Pacquiao. After losing to Pacquiao, Barrera at 130 beat Morales, Juarez 2x,Fana and Peden. He also beat Ayala.
