How would gentleman jim have done against the versions of: Willard Brennan Carpentier Gibbons Firpo Tunney That Dempsey fought? Excluding Miske cuz he was sick and has no footage
If Smith and McMahon could outbox Willard, Corbett could, 10/15 rounds. Probably beat Carpentier, too. Firpo, he should outbox, hard to nail Corbett if you were a wild brawler. Gibbons would be 50.50 at best. Brennan wasn't much so I'd favour Corbett here. Tunney beats Jim, stronger, bigger puncher, more advanced.
BTW not sure how sick Miske was for the fight with Dempsey, his disease seemed to go into remission and he had some good wins later. When I say I'm not sure, I mean just that.
