If Gerald Mcclellan had not fired Emanuel Steward before facing Nigel Benn, he would have won that fight and had a long boxing career. I just believe that Steward would have told Mcclellan to box in the later rounds instead of going for the kill.

    Thoughts?

I thought the between rounds job Ken Weldon did with Liakovich in the Brewser fight is as good as it gets. I thought it was better than Atlas did in the first Holyfield bout and he did a good job in that one himself.

I think Bouie Fisher brought out the best in B-hop both in prep and between rounds....

Papa Trinidad was IMHO horrible...I always felt that tito won in spite of him...gave some of the worse counsel...I think Tito was great, but that he could have been greater with someone else to tap into him.

Benn would have knocked him out no matter who he had in his corner.

I thought the Petranelli's really hurt Hagler in the Leonard fight. Lou Duva hurt many a fighter in the corner, most notably Meldrick Taylor in the Chavez fight. Michael Katsidis' trainer was the worst corner man i've ever seen.

Norman Stone brought out the absolute best in John Ruiz and we and boxing as a whole are much better for it.

Dominic Ingle was terrible in Kell Brooks corner against Carson Jones.

ive seen the other replies to this already but im using your post to quote. What you and the other lads are saying may or may not be true but i tell you one thing, McClelland would have been pulled out a lot sooner IMO although thats not to say it would have made any difference to his condition. Surely those cornermen saw something that wasnt right cos there were a lot of people watchin on the tv who could see it

    This one is for McVea

Brady basically saved Jim Jeffries from loosing the title, when he fought Jim Corbett first time round.

trainer Tommy Ryan had Jeffries trying to outbox Corbett, and he was getting stuffed.

Brady removed Ryan from the ring and said something to the effect of "you are blowing it son, you have to start using pressure tactics".

Brady's advice turned the fight round dramatically, and perhaps changed the course of history!

Atlas definitely gave Moorer the encouragement he needed ... and those ***gots in Tyson's corner in the Douglas fight were beyond incompetent ... who knows, Tyson might have gotten away with a KO against Douglas if those homos did their job

Juan DOmingo Roldan's corner didn't help him much against Hagler.."you're doing great. keep doing what you're doing"...even when he was getting pasted :-(

Angelo Dundee, exaggerated a small tear in the corner of Clay’s gloves by pushing his thumb into the cut and pulling out the horsehair, then demanded a replacement glove between rounds just after Henry Cooper had connected his 'enrys hammer' of a left hook on Clays jaw dropping him near end of 4th round.

Buying Clay time possibly saved Clay that day, who knows, as we all know Clay/Ali had excellent recuperative capacity.

Steward always was a big help in urging his fighters to go for the KO and not give the other guy a chance to land something stupid and win.

There are good videos of him ripping into Jermain Taylor, Lennox Lewis, and Wladimir Klitschko for being too passive and not letting their hands go.
