Should he win he'll improve his record to 20-0. It's really about time this guy has stepped up in class, I mean a 20-0 record in the HW division is going to turn heads regardless of who it consists of, it's time he/and his management start gunning for bigger fights. What do you guys think of Cornish, and where do you think he stands in the domestic scene? Personally, I think he's nothing great and well behind the likes of Fury, Chisora, Joshua, Price, H. Fury, Whyte.

Personally i'd like to see him in with someone like Towers, ***ton or Lewison next.

He's done a bit of sparring with the big boys & decided he's not much for the fight game unless he's got the win before he steps through the ropes.

Whyte is getting a big build up around him for knocking down AJ , if you've seen that fight you'll know it's nothing to be proud of - they're two raw novices at the time , wild!

Never heard of him except on here.

He must be taking the Audley Harrison route to nowhere 20-0 with no profile.

Is he stiffer than David Price?

I know Gary...very dedicated trainer. He is about 6 ft 7 inches. Very fit, pretty fast. He won the scottish senior title in only his 8th fight where none of his opposition could really challenge him, his 9th and final amateur fight was down in England where he got up off the canvas to win.

He turned pro late 2010. In terms of experience in the amateurs he had nothing compared to AJ, Hughie Fury etc. It is time for him to step up yet these 19 fights he has had are still a learning curve for him. I heard when he sparred the likes of David Price, he did ok, nothing special.

The biggest problem for Gary is his location, not just being up in the highlands, but being a big heavyweight from Scotland, which usually has more success in the lighter categories. He has a good coach in Laurie Redfearn in Inverness but how far will that take Gary is another question.

Joshua and Highie Fury coming on the scene has made people forget about Gary.
The two options Gary has is take a real dangerous fight and see if it pays off....or work away fighting limited opposition for another 10 fights. This option will make the public lose interest, but if he is still training hard in that time period he can only get better. Risky but not stupid, undefeated is undefeated.

He hasn't been with Laurie for about 18 months - 2 years mate, he is now trained by Paul Geddes who was working with him with Laurie and since early in his pro career.

Some of the things being said about Gary are really unfair, I understand that at the 20 fight mark he should be fighting for British Title or something along those lines but at the end of the day he is 27 and that is young for a heavyweight, he needs to be stepped up in opposition but not thrown in at the deep end because it could end up like Tom Dallas or Richard Towers. (I'm not saying that he is better than any of that 2 but he needs time to learn the game properly)

I would like to see him get the fight with Sam ***ton back on if that is possible, it would tell us loads about Gary and Sam isn't a noted puncher so wouldn't just blow him out.

There is no set formula for when fighters are going to be ready. Charlie Magri was clearly the best British fighter from fight one in his division, others have needed more than 50 fights to get to that level.

A better indicator of progress is normally the length of a fighters career. Cornish seems to have had little experience as an amateur, thus rightly he has been brought up slowly.

From the little I have seen of him, if it is felt he has potential to make an impact in the division, he needs to stay away from the best in Britain at the moment, as he needs more time to mature.

No he trains out of Liam Foy's gym with Paul, the split with Laurie wasn't on the best of terms I don't think.

Exactly, why rush him after a combined 28 fights amateur and pro for him to fail and he gets labelled another hyped up bum when he can tick away step up bit by bit and then when he does step up he is as ready as he will ever be. Then it will be up to him to show if he really has the ability, chin , stamina etc to mix it at that levels.
