Mental situation. Gary's always had it easy up in Inverness, being a 'Top Heavyweight in Scotland' whilst not having a challenge or a highly rated coach to give him a kick up his arse. At Billy's he was in gym with 2 fighters who I have no doubt would beat him, I wonder if his nose was out of joint ! If a fighter stops listening it's always time to part company.
Also the winner of the Gorman-Webb English title bout, Joe Joyce maybe in the picture sooner than previously thought as his debut opponent is Ian Lewison. Interesting times ahead for the domestic scene.
lets hope so, get this fight out of the way, and then I'm sure Hearn will work his magic and get Allen a shot if he wins, get that one out the way, then real contenders and talents can come up and fight for it. as much as I like Allen, I don't think he deserved a shot at the commonwealth & he doesn't deserve one for the British, but I'm sure he'll get it if he wins
I'm going with Cornish for this one. Sexton has fought at a higher level though. From what I see on here and twitter Billy nelson is head over heels about Bakole and didnt mention Cornish since he joined him so maybe he got tired of hearing all about a novice heavy when he is about to box for a major title? Saying that the internet and gym are two diff things and I thought he would do well with Billy when I read about the move Steven Tiffney is one to watch for the undercard. In with Troy James who has been in with top opposition,
your probably right in regards to Cornish not getting mentioned since bakole came on the scene but Gary is only trained by billy and i think bakole is also managed by him? so maybe it is the job of mtk to promote him more? billy's Job would be to get him ready to fight. not sure how good bakole is but billy seems to rate him highly and the heavyweights do attract bigger money so I understand why he would be pushing bakole especially if he is getting 25% as manager and 10% as his coach I rate tiffany very highly and if he can make featherweight ok then eh could be a real force and a shot at the British can't be too far away I fancied Gary to beat sexton but with this happening less than 2 weeks before fight I think it might not be time for Scotlands first heavyweight champion and Imo Gary could well have blown his only chance to pick up the title. maybe if Gary does win Simmons can move up to heavyweight and teach Cornish a boxing lesson
Kinda the same, I think. Cornish is a big guy but didn't use his range as well as he perhaps should have. I still think he looks very fragile when getting hit and Sexton is by no means a puncher. Sexton did well to negate the size difference I thought although Cornish certainly had his moments, he just kept smothering his own work.
