Castillo Vs Corrales. That ending when Chico Pulled him self up off the ground and Pounded on Castillo That was some Amazing ****.
Bull****. Hagler-Hearns may have been a better event, but for pure action and competition, Corrales-Castillo I (and numerous other fights) is superior, and not by only a little.
I won't choose. Corrales-Castillo is consistent and skilled violence with an unbelievable finish. Ward-Gatti was not as consistent BUT when they had moments, it was just stupid. Plus r9 is arguably the best round in the history of combat.
Jeckbox, If I wanted to see two guys brawl I could go to a bar. Corrales/Castillo Had the same level of brutality as any fight of all time I'm sure. It also had top level fighting skills, drama, excitement, determination and passion unsurpassed in any fight I've ever witnessed. It was a real life Rocky.
"Corrales/Castillo" in many respects but "Gatti/Ward I" produced the highest emotional peak (i.e. the fact Ward and Gatti were not only fighting each other but also through exhaustion added to the drama).
there my 2 fave fights ever,i picked gatti/ward bcoz i was 16 wen it happened&it just ****in amazed me,it turned from a boxing fan who watched 3/4 fights a month into a boxing worshipper who watches boxing pretty much 24/7,corrales v castillo was the better fight but i picked from the heart,gatti/ward. rip chico.
Yea both fights were equally good fights but I'd have to go with Castillo/Corrales because of the ending :thumbsup
I liked Gatti-Ward I a little better than Toney-Jirov, but I thought Morales-Barrera I and Sith-Monishpour 2 were better than either of those 2.
I agree with this post. Both excellent, excellent fights, and to tell you the truth picking between them is stupid because they both offer different things. C v C was skilled, close, consistant action with an intense dramatic ending. The whole fight was evenly matched. but for me G v W 1 had more overall EMOTION and obvious ebbs and flows over the bout. Gattis better skillset vs. Wards chin and power. Gatti v Ward 1 has my vote, but really both deserve equal respect.
While Castillo vs Corrales clearly gets points for importance, championship fight, and level of fighters, it loses points for the screwball nature of the ending, with Chico spitting out the moutpiece repeatedly and a somewhat controversial (depending on who you ask) stoppage. Plus, I watched Gatti vs Ward live, missed Castillo vs Corrales, the former sticks out more to me personally.
You're a joke, overcompensating for your insecurities, trying to sound "elite" and sophisticated. If you aren't secure enough in your fandom to admit that the Gatti Ward trilogy, especially 1, was ****ing amazing to watch, you are weak, and just don't get it.
Yea, me and Manny Stewart don't know a good fight when we see it, honestly, get the **** over yourself. It's like saying college football can never have a great game simply because the level of sophisticated skill isn't at the level of the NFL, so all NFL games are "better". It's a stupid argument, a great fight is a great fight. So afraid of being labled that you won't let yourself enjoy an amazingly entertaining fight, how ****ing absurd.
i dont know how people could say castillo/corrales was the greatest fight theyve ever seen. it was good for the year but i think there are so many fights better.
