I wasn't really watching boxing when Corrales and Gatti were fighting, but I was ****ing pumped to see how Valeros career would turn out :-(
As a fan, I'd say Valero because Corrales was essentially finished and Gatti had retired, while Valero was just beginning to make a name for himself in the US. Gatti and Chico had full careers, opposed to Valero, who was just getting started.
Thunder... Whenever I think about boxing, which is everyday, I think of how I miss Gatti being around... I knew his career was all but over when he died, but you never want to see your favorite fighter die, especially at a pretty young age of 37...
Corrales was my favorite of them. As said above, Valero's death (and murder he had just committed) was the most disappointing in terms of missing out on interesting fights.
My way of answering this question is thinking about which of those fighters I would want back and in their prime right now. Answer is Gatti, no question about it.
Valero only because he was in his prime and Corrales and gatti were done. But if all three were in their prime then it would be Chico.
As a fan, Gatti was my all-time favorite. However, I personally know Corrales brother and some of his family. We were friends when I lived in Sacramento. So in real life, I would love to see that family still whole and Chico to still be around. Good poll. There are no wrong answers.
Valero could be a force but died down due to his own doing... Pity I'm waiting for him to prove himself against the best while first stepping with Katsidis to gauge that chin of his...
If they were in their primes then the real life Rocky, Gatti. But since Gattiand Corrales was pretty much retired and Valero was coming up, I'd want Valero a little more, but still Gatti.
