Chico was a far better boxer, but a little chinny. If Gatti can hang around until the late rounds, he might have got a stoppage.
Gatti is a ****ing animal. I think a lot of you have been influenced too much by his last few fights. And forgotten how good he was before he got older, and all of those wars caught up to him. I'd favor Corrales to win eventually, but would have been surprised if it wasn't as much of a life or death struggle, if not more so, than the JLC fight.
Corrales was pretty big at 130 and 135 as well, weighing in around 147-149 on fight night. Match that up with Gatti around that time in 95-97, and it's not a significant difference. Anyway, Gatti had some decent boxing skills and legs, but eventually Corrales would get to him and Gatti would resort to brawling. Corrales would then tear Gatti up down the middle with straighter shots and short hooks on the inside. Corrales by mid-rounds TKO.
