after this fight did anybody besides me have the feeling chico would fall into a depressed state and something bad would happen.he was a true warrior but after 3 losses in a row and a move to welter weight he had no where to go and all the sudden the thing he loved most was gone.i swear i had a errie feeling
I'm not sure about that, but he certainly had no business being up at welterweight. For a normal fighter losing to a guy like Clottey but for a top man like Chico it was a great shame, as was what happened after that.
He should have chose a easier opponent for his welterweight dubut but he did'nt think like that. Warrior.
After the Clottey fight, I definitely had a feeling that Chico's career as a top fighter and draw was over. He couldn't make 135 anymore and it appeared as if the years of weight battles, not to mention his wars in the ring with JLC and Casa, had taken a lot out of him. It was a sad fight to watch.
I wanted Clotty to KO him because i was never a fan of Corrales:-( but Clotty beat the hell out of him, but that being said RIP DIEGO..
After his death, I heard more stories about Chico's drinking problems which apparently got a lot worse after he lost his title to Casamayor a few months earlier. Probably related to depression, although Corrales always had problems with alcohol (apparently he was drunk when he beat his pregnant wife).
I couldn't understand why he didnt go to 140 instead of jumping ALL THE WAY to 147.... He could have gotten a title fight at 140... And probably a build up to a Ricky Hatton fight...
