i know that the tale of the tape measurements aren't the best way to track progress in boxing but id like to see how i "measure" up compared to some of the pros. most of it is pretty basic but i was wondering when pros get their biceps measured are they flexing? arms strait? bent? thanks in advance if anyone knows.
I would say that the majority of boxer's measurements are fabricated. -Bernard Hopkins early in his career in his mid to late 20s was listed as 5'10 with a 32" waist. Now he is 6'1 with a 27" waist. His reach went from 71" to 75" -Sugar Ray Leonard has admitted that he's 5'9. -Guillermo Rigondeaux, Juan Manuel Lopez, Yuriorkis Gamboa, Joel Casamayor, Manny Pacquiao, Hector Camacho, and Juan Manuel Marquez have all been listed as 5'5.5 or lower, but also get listed 5'6.5 or 5'7. -Erislandy Lara was 5'7.5 in his pro debut, but now 5'10 in fights, 5'9 on BoxRec. -Malignaggi has been listed as 5'8.5, but was 5'7 against Khan. -Mayweater was listed 5'7.5 in the Olympic trials, then 5'6 in the Olympics. His reach went from 69" to 72" -Julio Cesar Chavez goes from 5'6.75-5'7.5 -Andre Berto from 5'7-5'8.5 -Winky Wright was usually listed as 5'9.5 early in his career, but has been listed as 5'11. These are just off the top of my head.
