Correlation between cutting weight and career longevity

    When the old timers used to use same day weigh-ins, they were able to fight 200 plus times in their career. Now with the ridiculous amount of weight fighters are cutting, guys rarely make the 50 fight mark. Do you feel there is a correlation between the amount of weight cutting and the length of one's career? I apologize if this has been brought up before.

    of course, weigh ins today are ridiculous to be honest. fighters that should be fighting at middleweight are now sucking themselves down to lightweight/welter. they literally only need to weigh the divisional limit for roughly 3secs. by the time they get in the ring they are 2 divisions heavier. to me this just solidifies the fact that weight jumping today is not as impressive as in the past.

    lol i went on a bit of a rant there but to your original question, yes i fully agree.

    Thats not the only reason, but no way you can cut that much weight and fight monthly
