After watching tonight's performance by Wlad, I think it's time to give the South African his proper due.

He never took the pounding Brewster had to endure in the first fight with Wlad, nor did he simply wait for Wlad to tire like Purrity.

Had Sanders cared about boxing 1/10th as much as he cared about golf, he could have been a legend. Unreal athletic ability, huge size, southpaw, massive left hook and probably the fastest hands any HW has had in decades.

Props to Corrie Sanders: Amazing HW and the one guy to hand Wlad a total, complete "L."

I'm on board, it was the first time we seen Wlad's glass chin shattered. I think 2003 was one of my favorite years of my life, this fight certainly helped it that much. Thanks Corrie "The Wlad Slayer" Sanders, I cant thank you enough.

Too bad Corrie didn't do much with his boxing career. If he had stuck with it early on, he probably would have been destroyed by Lewis or Bowe.

Lennox never wanted to fight him, and I don't blame him. I LOVED watching him fight. The Rahman brawl was a terrific fight (not sure if it's on YouTube). He was exciting, always came to fight and had wicked, fast punches. Loved that guy. He just couldn't stay focused or in proper condition, but his inherent ability was immense.

    :good

Yeah Lewis even said one time that he didnt fear Sanders, but that wasnt a fight he really wanted due to Sanders's style.

I was there for Sanders at Hanover.
He moved smoothly in the ring.
Wlad threw a lazy stop jab. Sanders side stepped so beautifully...that much I could see, in that Wlad has his back to me...I saw Sanders shoulder move.....then Wlad flew like a board to my point of View...I did not think he'd get up.

Sanders did a good job on Wlad...and even though I was watching Wlad scramble on his hand and feet in the last KD, (I watched his crazy shocked and rolling eyes through binoculars)... before going to his knees....he did get up every time to have beaten a count...The ref was right to stop that fight. He got up, steady...steady legs, and no shoulder slump.

Sanders by the way signed a Jones contract, to fight Jones and Jones never signed. That got him stripped I think.....Jones was not his manditory.

For Vitally, Sanders had a bad back..came in fat...for Rahman earlier...he'd had a bad leg and couldn't train hard enough, and gassed in the 7th. That took him out of contension....

Sanders had serious power and speed, only issue was stamina. His ability to take a punch is insane as well.

Agreed. I read somewhere that Manny did not want Lennox to fight Sanders, and it makes sense.

Sanders was a freak with his speed and he had excellent power.

You know what sucks? Lennox Lewis became Sanders' buddy after he beat Wlad but then dropped him once Sanders lost to Vitali.

Awesome! Bet that was one heck of a scene! :good

Wlad was toast. Sanders had him that night and he just couldn't deal with the speed or his nerves. Sanders' greatest night ever.

I'll be back in a bit. Have to run to the store (just so people don't think I'm blowing them off on responses).

The way he handled himself right after the Wlad victory was pure gangster.. Vitali walks into the ring with that whole " u ****ed with my brother " cheesy ass attitude and Sanders just gives him a light smack on the face, all non chalant..

He could have accomplished so much more.. He's an underachiever.

Lennox palled up to Corrie for two reasons:

    1. So he didn't have to fight him

    2. To destroy Lennox's foes, the Klitschkos.

Once Sanders fought both guys, Lennox didn't have much use for him. Especially after the performance vs Vitali.
