The dude was 37/38 .. pushing 40. I'm sure that was the reason they didn't fight again. A few years earlier and he would have completely and permanently ruined Wlad and Vit's careers. He was always in rather terrible shape and being old on top of that made his retirement imminent. He'll always be a class above the Klitschkos as a natural athlete - but a pedestrian heavyweight nonetheless.
Who cares what talent he had. In the end, its not what you could have done, its what you did. Guy was a great athlete, not a fighter. His stamina was never gonna be great, he was very explosive, explosive muscle fibers don't hold up over the long haul. He was sparked by a scrub in the first round of a fight, just too lackadaisical and never really put forth much effort, except for Wlad. When he was starched, he was just fiddling around, didn't take it serious you could tell. Had Rahman ****ed but gassed out within 4 rounds. Bottom line is, he just wasn't a fighter. He was the best athlete in the division, but you get no rewards for that, and only fought a few times like how he did against Wlad, other times he was just too disinterested.
The Shot Vitali took, had straight left hit guys like Lennox Lewis, Or Riddick Bowe(doesnt mattter) both would have been KNOCKED THE **** OUT at blink of an eye. So give a respect weirdo.
Sanders was a talent. There is a reason why Lewis, Tyson, and Holyfield never gave Sanders a shot. The risk was too great to justify the reward. During the 90's Sanders name was often used in the press to hype up non mandatory fights....then guys like Botha, Vaugh Bean, Kevin McBride, Etienne, and guys were chosen.
Neither Kevin McBride or Ettiene bouts were title fights and they werent during the 90's either Sanders was ok fighter with good power, but he gets seriously overrated by K2 fans. Reason why Lewis never fought him was that he lost to Rahman when he was considered possible challenger for the title. He would not stand a change against 90's top guys.
Yeah, He got talent. But he didnt take it all serious which he kinda fell short... Corrie Sanders was like House with out proper foundations. One and only thing I discredit Wladimir Klitschko as a huge Fan of him that he never rematched Corrie. I personally did need to see could Wlad beat him because Corrie was tricky guy. There was no excuse for the first fight for Wlad, it was just a beat down.
He had one of the Fastest Hands oh Hw too.. And boy when he let his hands go. Sanders doesnt get any more over rated than guys like Rahman or McCall who KTFO Lennox Lewis like these guy were something more than mere contenders.
Sorry, this isn't about giving appreciation for someone's ability to take shots to the face and skull before finally getting dropped in the 1st round. With any head movement or better talent, Corrie's left wouldn't have landed on either Lewis or Bowe .. merely the less agile, plodding, slow footed, less talented Vit. Wake up, man.
Man, you are funny. Man what talent did Lennox Lewis Show in those firsts Rahman&McCall fights then? If you judge fighters that way, how can you defend those losses?:huh
