Sanders was actually defending his WBU title against Rahman. And yes, the winner was supposed to face Lewis. That much is correct.

I really enjoyed the Rahman / Sanders fight. Early on Rahman got caught by one of Sanders' pet punches, a short vicious uppercut on the inside, and nearly got toppled over the ropes. But Rahman was on fire and simply would not stay down. Sanders had a decided edge in skill and speed, but Rahman wanted it more and in the end that was what won him the fight. (That and the fact that Sanders undertrained:patsch) Hasim deserved that win. I feel that when Hasim was on a mission, he was actually an exceptional heavyweight.

This obsession of Herol on Sanders "earning" a title shot is really embarrassing. If it is his opinion that Corrie shouldn't have been fighting Wlad, then he needs to simply come out and say so.

It is very easy for me to pick out guys on the resumes of the big names that were manifestly inferior to Sanders.

Tyson faced Peter McNeeley, Seldon, Mathis, Botha, Francis etc that had worse records than Sanders.

Holyfield faced Czyz and Cooper, both of which were pulverized by Sanders. And then we have names like Jeremy Bates on Holy's resume. He's better than Sanders? Seriously?

The real reason Sanders was much talked about and likewise much avoided was because he had speed and power and had the ability to lay down a carpet bombing which was not nearly as appealing as fighting some featherfist for equivalent money. :deal

No. Rahman won the fight because he was just a better schooled boxer than Sanders.
He went to war with Raham facing him square on , standing stiff with his chin in the air. No defense , no movement up top , just fighting like an amateur. Rahman , slippd nd weaved , ducked and dodged and came back with sharp counters.
He got floored by Raham who was laying on the ropes. When Raham got Sanders against the ropes , he closed the show.

And Rahman was not 'an exceptional HW ' in any way. He was a basic B-level contender. You prove yourself you be only a biased jock-rider of certain fighters once again.

If Sanders hadn't knocked Wlad out, most of the guys here defending him, wouldn't be here defending him.

Alas, Rahman was the HW champion of the world.

You prove yourself as thick as a plank and ignorant as always :patsch

And he is regarded as one of the worst in HW history. How many defenses did he have? What happened to him in his very next fight?

You make excuses for Sanders being under trained. Why don't you make the same for Lewis , who came in over-weight on the scales.

So, you admit that Rahman was the heavyweight champion of the world?

I'm having trouble understanding you. To clarify, he WAS the HW champion of the world, right?

Gosh, seems like Dino just ran away, rather than admit that Rahman was the heavyweight champion of the world. How about that.

why would you ask me to say something I've already said?

quite diverting and hence running away from answering that Sanders couldn't earn a title shot in his prime but when retired was gifted a fake one. It matters not that it was corrie who got it, sooner or later someone else weak would have crushed wlad - and today you'd be building that failed fattie up as some atg killer instead and ignoring sanders.

regardless he did fight Wlad and did a great job doing it because he had those unusually fast hands with good power :bbb

your hatred of Wlad is the only reason you cant accept this Herol :rasta
