He made his first real splash in the boxing world with his 1993 stoppage of Cooper. The rugby and the sprinting stories were mentioned even then in 1993 by Corrie himself, and he was not a braggart by any stretch. But I don't think he ever got as high up as national level.

You're such an excuse making little sap of a man.
Gerry Coatzee came from a worse time than Sanders did.
That didn't stop him from making a name for himself and became a world champion.
Sanders failed because he simply wasn't good enough.

Bruno and Lewis were not born in America. They broke out internationally. By winning fights.

The only guy post ww2 that compares is charlie powell. 9.9 hundred yard dash, California state champion shot put, offered a tryout with the Harlem Globetrotters in basketball, played a little minor league baseball, and of course had a career in the nfl.

I think I would call it a draw.

What do you mean what's it to me ??

Sanders himself said he was "decent fly half and centre" and was once invited to trials for Northern Transvaal.

Why would he be offered a spot on the national team ?

You don't get offered a spot on South African national Rugby team unless you are a top Rugby player.
(Unless it was some sort of "goodwill ambassador" type thing. )

International Rugby is a proper sport, if you're from South Africa it is THE sport. Hundreds of excellent rugby players from South Africa, and only 31 places on a world cup rugby squad.
    Perhaps you don't understand that.

The first rugby world cup was in 1987. The next was in 1991.
South Africa didn't attend until the next one in South Africa in 1995.

There's no way Sanders was seriously invited to be in that 1995 team.

Sanders was pretty skilled in my opinion. Not just because he beat Vlad, long before that. He was a shockingly good natural athlete that brought very fast hands to the table for a dude his size.

You just hate him because you are emotionally invested in hating Waldo  :nono

I'm not saying he wasn't. He was a good B level fringe contender. Of which there was many throughout history.
Morriston was technically better, yet he takes a flaking around here next to the white Muhammad Ali.

I agree Morrison was better but Mendoza is talking about what "could of been" had things been a little different many times, you get so offended by that and attack him for being a idiot not taking enough account that he is simply making points of what "could of been" in his opinion, its just his opinion Dino, plus I hate to say it but I go on SIGHT a lot and forget Vlad, from the first time I saw Corrie Sanders I was impressed by his freaking hand speed. I always felt he could of gone a lot farther up the ladder than he did. Sorry if you cant handle that :rasta

    Sanders was better than Morrison.
    But that's not saying much.
    Morrison was rubbish.

Totally not true, its by beating up various degree's of cans that we decide who beat them up the best and thus has more potential.

Why do you deny reality so often Dino?

Whats upsetting you so much? Is it the Vlad thing again somehow?

The hate runs deep when you find a way to hate the guy who blew out the guy who you hate more.

So why didn't he get further up the ladder and why was he stopped on his home turf in two rounds by Tubbs,?
