corrie sanders had the raw talent to become an ATG

sanders had the natural athletic talent and boxing attributes to be an ATG, he just did not have the desire or commitment to go along with said ability.

when you think about it, what sanders was able to accomplish in his fight with wlad, vitali and some other heavyweights, without even hardly training (his heart was always with golf) is nothing short of staggering. sanders came equipped with deadly speed and power, and one hell of a counter punch. he is probably one of the biggest wasted talents in boxing ever.

    this dude was pure athlete.

I agree with you, he just didn't have the discipline. He didn't do the roadwork, everything else was there. He rocked VK more than anyone else ever has.

Blew a lot of guys out like they never were before.

He had Alfred Cole out of there in less then 1. You can laugh at the opponent before you consider he went the distance with Kirk Johnson 2x, Tim Witherspoon... Went the distance with Timur Ibragimov when he was 46 ****ing years old.

Also retired Bobby Czyz in two. No one even came close to duplicating that.

Also blew out Sprott in one round. No one else ever came close to doing that.

Guy started fast, to say the least.

yes, he was extremely explosive. more explosive than vitali or wlad. probably more fast twitch muscle fibers, more so than most heavyweights to be honest. he lacked the stamina and desire, that is what killed him in the end.

its shocking that he showed up for the vitali fight with an attitude of "yeah, here i am, lets just swing for the fences and give me my pay check." ive very rarely seen a boxer with such a neutral attitude towards the sport. his lack of training was documented.

give some desire for the sport to sanders and a gas tank and he beats either klit on their best night 7 times out of 10. that is how good he was naturally, what he could have became is scary.

my opinion on sanders is very high.

I agree, the mans handspeed and explosive power was awesome, a pity he wasn't determined enough for the job.

His fight with Vitali had some crazy exciting moments. He threw bombs, that's for sure...

Exactly. I remember thinking VK was in serious trouble and I believe he was for the first couple of rounds.

His fights against elite top level opposition tells us how good a fighter he was.

Rahman. Great battle had Rahman down, a real seesaw fight that could of gone either way. Was unlucky to lose. Rahman went on to crush Lewis in his next fight.

Wlad. Stunning early KO over an ATG. Since time has past this has become one of the best upsets in the sport, the manner in which he did it truly demands respect.

Vitali. great battle again. Hurt Vitali early and almost became the first man to knock him down. Was worn down in the end but put up a brave effort.

In the first 3 rounds Sanders was one of the most dangerous opponents to ever lace them up. I know if I had to mythically pick one south paw against any ATG HW from the past I would be going with Sanders.

I'm glad my views are shared with so many. Imagine a Sanders - Tyson fight!

you are right. sander's speed was even more impressive when you consider how big he was. he wasnt exactly a small heavyweight. the first barrage he threw at wlad, wlad didnt even know what hit him.

i read a long time ago he used to sprint growing up, it was one of the sports he competed in, and he was supposedly quite fast. that explains his quick, explosive footwork when he opened up and went on the attack. look at how easily he closed the distance on wlad and vitali when he wanted to.

Mike Perez. The closet fighter out there in style to Sanders at the minute. A bit smaller though. It's a pity he doesn't be as active as he should be.

South Africa was banned from world sport. It was convenient to disregard him., and he had the same name as some other corrie sanders.
Sanders had a good day time job as a cop, until he beat Wlad. You don't give up a good job to sign with a Don King.

Sanders hurt his leg and couldn't do enough road work before Rahman. Had he won that he'd been a name. He gassed.
Vs. Wlad at Hanover. I was there. I expected it to go 8-9. Dr. Steel Hammer, vs Mr. Corrie Sanders. I liked that Mr. in his introduction. It was the very first time I'd ever heard a boxer introduced as Mr.
    Love handles, belly flat enough.

Sanders moves very smoothly through the ring. Wlad had his back to me when he went flying.

What I saw was a great little side step, that opened everything up.
Vs Vitalli, Sanders said he had a bad back, even weeks before the fight, so coming in whale belly was expected.
Yes I think he had a bad back, or he'd at least been in the shape he was for Wlad.

Agreed really. The guy's handspeed, power, and southpaw stance should've made him a ****ing force, instead he's a footnote.
