I agree but it happens in boxing, Bowe is another one although he did achieve more than Sanders but could have been even greater same applies for Judah.

Not everyone that has potential, fulfills it, most do not. Others go further with little raw talent. How good could Mayorga have been if he actually knew how to fight? Talk about raw chin and power....imagine if he had some excellent technical training to go with the raw elements....Its clear Sanders had some great potential.

"I could have been some one"
    "But so could anyone..."

corries problem was not having a really good hard snapping southpaw jab.........his jab was just a pawing jab....another thing corrie should have moved frpm south africa to the usa for better training......BUT I HAVE MUCH RESPECT FOR THE UNDERATED CORRIE SANDERS/

Very underrated. A fully equipped, trained, dedicated Sanders could have done serious damage at heavy. He had all the tools to make noise, just didn't have the desire or heart to succeed to be the best.

Sanders was a f*cking beast for real.

Yea he sure was He beat Wlad and one of the few boxers I seen win a round against Vitali If only he was better conditioned and more dedicated.

he sort of reminded me of a southpaw hopkins in the way he waited in the shadows to unleash his left hand. that fast side step was a thing of beauty. he baited vitali a few times with it. if vitali had wlad's chin, sanders would have came out the winner in that fight as well.

He ran the 100 in a little over 10 seconds....

the only thing Perez has in common with Sanders is that they're both lefties. Szpilka is the much more promising Southpaw HW imo.

Lennox has admitted to avoiding Southpaws. I would have loved to see him take on Sanders.

i call bull****! when was this big break in his career since s. africa was banned from sports. This is so funny, typical BS thread trying to make an average fighter out more than he was because he beat your guy.

Yes i'm discussing reality and you aren't. Thank you.

My point is sanders could have had all the hunger in the world and he would not have been an atg for 4 reasons: lewis, vitali, wlad and byrd.

These were the top guys in the decade. Sanders would never have beaten any of them when they were at the top. We saw him v vitali. Lewis would go the same way. Byrd would beat him on points like he did against jameel. Wlad any time after 06 batters sanders.

He did fulfil his potential, he got to number 2 in the world. He'd have never gotten higher because motivated or not, he wasn't good enough.

I disagree. Keeping in mind that we're talking about a prime in shape Sanders....A older Golota with no left anymore beat Byrd imo and Ibeabuchi got to him. It isn't unreasonable to think Sanders could have. Lennox was great obviously but like i mentioned he has admitted to avoiding lefties and one as skilled, fast, hard hitting, and big as Sanders would have a good chance with him too.

No. Mental makeup is as much of a talent as anything, and he didn't have it. That, and his talent wasnt THAT spectacular either.

I think a draw was the correct result.

Well for sanders to get a shot at lewis he'd have had to beat rahman and he came up against an opponent who did have skill and motivation to pull it together on the night. Had he beaten rahman he could well have beaten lewis from the first rahman fight but he'd have been splattered in the rematch.

Facing byrd in 02 he loses on points because chris was far more skillful and experienced.

We saw him against the brothers, had he rematched wlad after the vitali fight he loses imo.

Sanders looked brutal against an overconfident wlad. That is him fulfilling his potential and hitting number 2 spot. In that era he'd have never been number 1 imo. Certainly not much longer than hasim managed. Certainly not enough to be an atg.

Been saying that stuff for years. Sanders looked like a damn fast food manager but he had FREAKISHLY fast hands for a heavyweight and hit with a lot of impact. He was better than most people think.
