If true, R.I.P. Pretty dangerous contender considering his best patch of form came when he was seemingly more dedicated to golf.
A fun fighter to watch, who for a few months had the boxing world a buzz. I got to see him fight on the undercard of a bill I went to in the mid 90s, when he came over here. I had a couple of minutes conversation with him later that night and he struck me as an impressive individual. And as a boxer, seemed a level above anything else on the card. I think it is fair to note, Vlad got his big brother to get his title back in a bruising contest, then despite Vlad's 'improvements' (his more cautious style), lil Klitschko choose not to try and gain revenge for his lost.
Really shocking news, the world is just such a bad place, its depressing. He was such a dangerous fighter, and argubably one of the biggest punchers in the heavyweights from the past twenty-five years, possibly even all time. I remember after the win against Wladimir he was getting a lot more media attention, and then Lennox Lewis got involved with him during the build-up to the fight against Vitali. He came across as such a decent person, so relaxed and at peace with the world, he was a VERY successful businessman and made far more money from his ventures outside of the ring than in it; I understand he was an exceptional golf player and was more than able of playing professionally. Very sad.
sounds like a bunch of guys went in and just shot the place up UDA style, like that scene in casino celebrating his nephews 21st birthday, what a tragedy
I always remember sweet D many moons ago on SKY ****ed up when talking about Corrie Sanders & with a slip of the tongue called him 'Curry Saunders' RIP Corrie Sanders.
RIP. Much respect to him. Has done what no other boxer has done in this lacklustre era. Fair play just for that.
