Sanders could KO any boxer who ever fought. He had the pop to do it. The key word here is COULD. He would have to land that perfect shot and then do the finishing. WOULD he have done it against Tyson of Douglas ? My money would be on Tyson, and by a mid rounds KO.
But u have to remember Herol, what would u have said to someone in 88 if they had said, I'm putting money on buster Douglas to ko tyson if they ever meet? U would have laughed your ass off. Never say never in boxing mate, however ludicrous it sounds. I've learned that the hard way pal.
The difference is marked -Douglas was a valid contender for the world title. Sanders had failed to contend for the world title athis best and was by then a retiree mysteriously handpicked by K2 to fall in a sham of a world title fight. They are not alike. As you say, it is laughable to think douglas would beat tyson, though he had SOME kind of chance no matter what.. This is another level entirely, Corrie was never fit for championship bouts in his best form, so he'd not even get the shot to climb into the ring, and that makes it far more comical.

Sanders was fast starter . In 31 ko wins 17 in 1st rd and 7 in 2rd. If Tyson had a off night like he did against Douglas cannot see any reason why he could not catch a sloppy Tyson. Remember what happened when Lewis not focused and one punch ko to McCall and Rahman. Douglas didn't beat Tyson because of his power. He beat him with sharp boxing, skilled in-fighting and an accumulation of devastating punches over 10 rounds. Sanders, at that stage of his career didn't have the conditioning, footwork or skill to outfight Tyson the way Douglas did. He had speed and power (both of which are overrated), but that was never enough against Tyson. You had to throw the kitchen sink at the man to stop him, and Sanders, with his 5 round gas tank and no defensive ability could never get that far. At best he smacks Tyson around for a few rounds before gassing and getting flattened by an overhand right. Realistically though, he'd probably succumb to the pressure in the early rounds. Tyson at that stage was still fast, explosive, powerful and tough as nails. He just lacked the finesse and mental sharpness and a peak Douglas exploited that, but an old, overweight borderline retired Sanders couldn't. No way.
