There is no comparison between Sanders and Purity. Sanders had talent that far exceeded anything Purity could've hoped to ever have. Sanders had great A level speed and power, a weak chin, stamina (due to lack of training), and not exactly a great deal of interest in the sport. Purity had a chin. That is all.
I do think his poor stamina effected his chin negatively in mid to late round. But was he ever knocked out cold in the opening rounds?
But Sanders also wouldn't have survived the battering Whyte took in the first round from Joshua to have survived until the 2nd round to take his head off.
I do believe Sanders-Joshua would've looked similar to Sanders-Wlad. Even if they had more power on Sanders, he had: speed, reflexes, timing and accuracy on them. A killer combination against robotic movements. Also: Sanders would never have given Joshua the chance of battering him in the first round to begin with.
The early KO loss to Nate Tubbs, he was flattened, falling face first on the canvas and was down for the full 10 count, didn't even make it to his knees, he was still sprawled out on his front when the ref counted 10. His chin was poor, Tubbs was a solid puncher at best.
Joshua does have the same tendency to throw then stand there admiring his work like Wlad did back then and that would set him up nicely for Sanders counter left hand. Which is why I favour Sanders in this hypothetical. But Joshua is still a work in progress with only 15 fights unlike Wlad who had already had 41 fights going into the Sanders fight. Hopefully Joshua will learn to not be such a sitting duck for counters by the time he runs into someone as dangerous as a Sanders.
Fair enough, the Tubbs loss was pretty ugly. But if you watch the fight carefully, it seems to me that he lost focus for a second and then was clipped. The first punch sort of stunned him and Tubbs' follow up caught him cold. When he was set Sanders had a decent if not stellar chin. Took some big uppercuts from Cooper with no ill-effects and some bombs from Rahman too. It took a while for Vitali to get the TKO, and Sanders was game to the end.
And there's the rub. Actually to be compared to Sanders at this point in his career is a compliment to Joshua.
Please enlighten me to where you used the Facts in your previous post. Was it the Fact where you state Joshua would beat Wlad at any point in his career? Or any of you other opinion you put into you post? Fact =\= facts??
If Whyte could catch him like that it's ridiculous to think that Corrie couldn't blast him out of there....
the golfer once retired and shot suddenly became an awesome boxer who not only earned a title shot (something he never was capable of when prime) but also won it in seconds and with ease. despite not training seriously for it. that's some turnaround!
