I like this match. Two guys who could both punch and mixed it up early in a fight. You have a south paw vs an orthodox. Both were about evenly sized. I honestly am not sure who wins.
Big Frank's certainly getting put in among some big hitters lately! I like this one, two modern-day heavy s, both had that power. I'm gonna go and pick Bruno. Would be Frank banging that Jab out in Sanders face and throwing that Cannon ball right. Frank may be a bit akward but I see him as the better fighter. Bruno drops him in the middle rounds, with Sanders looking sorry for him self.
Yes, there is that. Reason I went for Frank, is he was never really stopped early apart from Tyson of course. So if, and I suspect he would, Bruno survives a early mauling, then he'd be in a good place and using his Jab to soften up Sanders.
I like Sanders in this one. Bruno's defence was never amazing and Sanders in his prime was a much better boxer.
It's quite a good matchup. Sanders does have some advantages here. He's a southpaw, which is an advantage in itself usually, and he was both adept at leading and counter punching. He was quite good at setting traps, baiting a right hand, then throwing a counter hook. He caught both Klitschkos with this very tactic. Good handspeed and mobility for a big man. Nice straight puncher. His problem is he wasn't built for a war of attrition. He wasn't that durable and tended to gas after a fast start. Credit where due though, he was aggressive and always looking to land hard shots. Bruno has the better jab. But he was always a bit mechanical, and he too wasn't that durable and had stamina issues himself. I don't foresee a Rahman-type fight for Sanders here. Rahman was limited, but he was tenacious and could take it better than Bruno. I still think it's going to be quite a tough fight though. Bruno may be a little more tentative than usual, but that jab will keep Sanders honest. I favour Sanders because I think he'd get off first, and more often. I think he'd have the initiative more often than not. Strangely, I think this goes the distance. Sanders by decision in a fight where both gas in the second half of the fight, leading to a slightly sloppy affair.
Frank Bruno vs Ingomar Johansson, Cleveland williams, 1979 mike weaver, andy ruiz jr, floyd Patterson, primo Carnera, nikolai valuev and now this! Anyway, I would SLIGHTLY favor Frankie, but Sanders agressiveness and power, make this a call it fight
This could go either way. When Frank Bruno was stopped it took tons of punches from big punches. Corrie Sanders on the other hand got knocked out pretty easily by Nate Tubbs
This is actually a good Bruno thread. Two guys with excellence in places, but also significant weaknesses. I lean towards Sanders, but anything could happen.
Agreed - Sanders can make this his fight, if he takes the right approach and boxes smart, but Bruno is just as apt to impose himself on Sanders. I don't think the Southpaw stance of Sanders would bother Frank too much. But, not one I'd take a punt on.
