If Sanders follows the Purrity gameplan there's no reason why he shouldn't win wide on points. People think Sanders was 'just a slugger' but this couldn't be further from the truth. He was firstly a boxer, then a guy that could punch. If he tried to go for broke to KO McCall he could get himself into trouble. Oliver had one of boxing's great chins and there's nothing worse than blowing your wad against a guy that can punch as well.
McCall stops him late on, durability wins here, Sanders will gas if it goes past 5, which it definitely will.
If you mean Sanders from the Wladimir Klitschko fight, Wladimir was making himself available for the left hand, and as we know, he got taken out early, there’s very little chance McCall gets taken out early, and if he doesn’t, then Sanders will gas, he didn’t exactly know how to pace himself and didn’t have the best stamina anyway. He also didn’t have great survival skills.
Sanders was already old there. Here's 40 minutes of Sanders showing he could go all night and that his boxing skills were excellent: This content is protected TLDR: skip to round 12 to see Sanders still moving around easily enough.
He can fight at a low pace when he knows the threat level is low, he’d be forced to work against McCall to fight him off, if Sanders tries to lower the pace, McCall will pressure him. Purrity was a decent gatekeeper/journeyman, but not on the level of McCall.
Since when was McCall one of the world's great pressure fighters? I mean, he's ok, but he's not exceptional nor is he exceptionally fast either. Oliver's main attribute was toughness.
LOL Sanders has a higher workrate than McCall ffs. Here's McCall plodding around eating jabs from Bruno, who really did have an awful gas tank and who still beat him: This content is protected
Oliver Mccall tko5. Sanders is not gonna outlast Mccall slow plodding and he has no hope of stopping Mccall. It just isn't gonna happen. Mccall was a huge hitter that could be outboxed..........rather easily, but Sanders was not some type of boxing virtuoso nor was he a stone guy who could absorb and absorb shots. He could be iced if caught and Mccall caught more fighters than he didn't. The thing is Mccall was a plodder but he would just wing shots and hit the mark enough, hard enough that I'd bet on that before I bet on Sanders.
McCall more often than not but if Sanders could come in with a gameplan and stick to it he would win by UD.
McCall had a steel chin and I doubt that Sanders could knock him down, when you beat Lennox Lewis then you can beat anyone, McCall by KO...
