He didn’t get rid of Nate Tubbs fast. Sanders is a one-hit wonder (Wlad). He lacked stamina and would likely peter out after a fast start as he often did, leaving Snipes to sniper the sniper. I respect Sanders immensely as a human being. His bravery in taking a bullet to save his family during a robbery is the kind of selflessness that few possess and something we’d all like to think we would do in such a situation … but frankly most people would freeze if faced with such a crisis in real time and no warning that the moment was coming. He was also a good golfer. But I swear no boxer in history, Buster Douglas included, has gotten more mileage off of one win with such an overall mediocre career than this guy. Snipes was a fight-anyone type guy who had some ups and downs but he was dedicated, trained, didn’t sit out long periods of inactivity, took risks with difficult fights and came far closer to living up to his potential. It cannot be overlooked that every loss on Sanders’ record is by stoppage. Or that his promoter calculatedly brought in cruiserweights and smaller men like Johnny Nelson, Carlos DeLeon and Bobby Czyz to feed him. It tells me he didn’t have the whiskers and his team knew it. I figure Renaldo is behind after about five rounds, perhaps picking himself off the canvas, but from then on he takes over the fight and stops Corrie by the seventh or eighth.
Snipes also dropped Holmes heavily, lost a highly controversial decision to Witherspoon that alot felt he won, beat Berbick etc. Snipes does have some close decision losses to some unremarkable Heavyweights but normally Snipes was very tough and a handful to deal with. Sanders is much more talented than Snipes but if he gets into a war with him and Snipes lands his sneaky right hand on the button then Sanders could come up short. And let's remember Snipes would arguably be Sanders 2nd best win of his career which puts into perspective Sanders has quite a shallow resume.
Snipes lost to THIS guy jesus christ https://boxrec.com/en/box-pro/2402 Better than anything Snipes ever did in his career Prime Sanders had all the stamina he needed This content is protected That's utter nonsense. He fought who would fight him. He's on record as having called out Tyson, Lewis and Holyfield. He took fights with both Klitschkos, Rahman (when his condition sucked) as well as Purrity. I figure Snipes takes over the fight after five rounds and then wakes up from his dream with the ref shining a light in his eyes making sure that he was still alive after getting countered on one of his wild swipes in the first.
Parkey was a cruiserweight champion who lost a unification to Evander Holyfield. Nate Tubbs was … Tony’s brother. Yes, Parkey went on a losing skid and fought on way too long, but so do a lot of guys. I don’t see how you take a guy who was a legit champ and smear that as a shameful loss. Look up this guy, who KO’d Corrie: https://boxrec.com/en/box-pro/24285\ Look up Tubbs, who had only two other wins against people with winning records (both of them professional opponents/journeymen). Ross Puritty? LOL. Tough guy but also a journeyman/fringe contender. You hold him up as a big win? Well there’s 19 other guys who had ‘big wins’ then (and do so while mocking a guy who was a legit cruiser champion?). So Corrie had enough stamina to beat a journeyman. Nice. Go watch the Rahman fight. Sanders ‘called out’ people? Geez, is this a schoolyard or a forum where we discuss boxing? How about having his promoter make an offer to fight those guys. People weren’t quaking in fear of Sanders, unless maybe he challenged them to 18 holes or a putting contest. Sanders was a one-hit wonder. (So was Puritty, with the same one hit, so I guess you have to hold him in high record). Corrie seemed to fight about once a year, if that. Probably worried the boogeyman Nate Tubbs might show up again.
Oh ... wait ... you mean like De Leon, Czyz and Nelson, who YOU just criticized Sanders for fighting? Can you even hear yourself? The difference being of course that Sanders generally obliterated "cruiserweight champions" .... You were talking about SIZE remember? You were whining about "smaller men". Remember? It's widely known that Sanders had an awful camp for that fight and hadn't managed to do any roadwork ... It's simple. You said that he avoided big punchers and big fighters. Calling people out means putting an offer into the public to them to fight them. Should they ahve been interested the fight was there. In other words, you are wrong, as usual. Snipes was a no-hit wonder that lost to Parkey
I said his team obviously knew he couldn’t take a punch (as evidenced by all his losses being by KO) so they wanted to put him in with smaller guys. Sanders was very, very carefully managed … especially after Nate Tubbs axed him. Parkey was certainly more dangerous to heavyweights than Johnny “Featherfist” Nelson, Carlos “Hunt and Peck” DeLeon and Bobby “Hello I’m a Middleweight” Czyz. You think those guys could test anyone’s chin at heavyweight? You say Sanders had stamina and then say ‘well when he gassed it’s because he didn’t train hard.’ A big knock on him was his lack of dedication, which is why he had stamina issues. You listed Puritty as a meaningful win … now it’s just ‘he was large,’ lol. Snipes was closer to being lineal heavyweight champ than Sanders, who held a WBO trinket that at the time was regarded about as highly as the IBO or WBF belts are today. Sanders was absolutely a one-hit wonder. Snipes beat Berbick and Coetzee while they were still prime and live.
No, in fact you are inventing nonsense on the fly. Sure you aren't a Dino alt? He took a punch just fine and in fact fought most of his most dangerous fights AFTER the Tubbs loss. Purrity, Rahman, the two Klitschkos. You are flat out wrong. Parkey had 42 fights and 16 KOs Yeah people were running in fear He got knocked out 11 times himself which shows he had a chin like pudding, which is probably why they matched him with Renaldo "take a wild swing" Snipes in the first place. But Snipes didn't manage to navigate this very modest speedbump Parkey was more like a clod in the path, really. He had a knee operation EDIT "Although he lost his WBU title to Hassim Rahman late last year on an eighth-round stoppage, Sanders, rather than Rahman, received a lot of positive press in the United States. “Corrie just ran out of steam against Rahman,” says trainer/manager Harold Volbrecht, “Corrie was unable to do his roadwork before that bout, due to a knee injury. We wanted to postpone the Rahman fight. It was a good offer, however, so we went ahead with it.” https://mg.co.za/article/2001-01-12-sanders-still-aiming-for-bout-with-lewis/ YOU were the one that started the size angle. Remember THIS: Are you taking all your pills in the morning? Flat out wrong, again. Reaching with a bargepole here. Beating Klitschko is worth about half of Snipes' very underwhelming resume. Coetzee is widely viewed as being robbed against Snipes. Here's the fight of Snipes' legendary 'victory' This content is protected
Without the Wlad win, Sanders could be deemed every bit and more the underachiever in boxing that Snipes was. Indeed he could be considered that even with the Wlad win. But, either way, in watching their respective bouts Snipes was more of a 'warrior' than Sanders ever was, in my opinion. Snipes fought at a higher level for longer and, win or lose, competed hard in some real wars. Take his win over Wlad out of the picture (which was more a statement on Wlad's significant vulnerabilities than a testament to Sanders undiscovered talent) and Sanders essentially peaked against Ross Purrity. This fight was more of a workout for Sanders than it was an actual contest. Against Snipes, he's going to have a fight on his hands and I don't favor Sanders in bouts that involve him having to push the envelope. Renaldo Snipes W 10 UD
