Corrupt Scorecards by Queensberry: Round 9 - McCann vs Baluta @ York Hall?

    The two judges who scored the bout 86-86 scored round 9 10-10. Baluta clearly won that round? It was his best round of the fight. Surely there must be some investigation into how this could happen? That’s one of the worst things I have seen since watching the sport.

    Why the hell was Dev Sahni by the cards as they were being filled in?

    This is a worse problem than drug testing in my opinion. The sad thing is what we will probably see another bad decision like this tomorrow night.

    No one can argue Boxing isn't corrupt when you see stuff like that.

    Very dodgy. Panic 10-10 so so he didn't lose, the fix was well and truly in.

    Yet again dodgy British scorecards. Are we the worst in the world?

    They were not “British” scorecards. They were Italian and Spanish….

    Stop seeing professional boxing as a sport, it’s just a business masquerading as a sport. The whole organisation is about making money from top to bottom - the belt organisations, drug testing, the promoters, the fighters are all about making money.

    If you mean that dodgy scoring has a bigger effect on boxing as a competition than drugs, that's probably true. Drugs could have a devastating, possibly fatal effect on one person or fight.

    But as someone else said, scores are all part of the promotional setup of boxing. Dodgy cards and robberies happen under every promoter and not one of them makes any serious attempt to do anything about it. Some weasel words follow a poor card, only for it to happen to a different promoter next time and shift the focus there.

    I remember farces like Crolla's last fight which was so meaningless people just laughed off the joke cards in Crolla's favour - including the opponent. Where's the integrity?

    Even Hearn thought one of his own card's fights was a bad decision last night (Flynn-Baker draw, Hearn said "Flynn won by 3 or 4") yet no shouts of corruption on here.

    It happens nearly every week, sometimes for the promoter and sometimes against.

    I didn't watch Flynn against Baker II, but the referee scored that one and I haven't seen what he scored each round. For McCann vs Baluta, two judges scored the final round 10-10 which conveniently meant they both scored the bout 10-9. Everyone watching gave that round to Baluta. The actual scoring of McCann vs Baluta is what makes it so much more worse.
