Currently reading a book called 'Boxings Hall of Shame' (only just started it), anyway..its talking a lot about throwing/fixing fights....supposedly Sugar Ray Robinson refused attempts by the mafia for him to throw fights etc etc Anyway I was wondering...how many fights are known to have been defiantely fixed (not bull**** like Haye V Harrison), i mean real thrown fights. The book claims the Ali v Liston fight was thrown (anchor punch), but its just occured to me i dont think ive ever seen the fight even though I have a huge canvas of it in my front room. Anyway, have any boxers ever been charged with deliberatly throwing fights?
yeah it mentions Lamotta threw at least one....problem with all these are they are so old the videos (if they exist) are hard too find.
It was later revealed that there were huge bets placed on green to win in round 1, I myself had a bet on green by ko, I had no clue that it was going to turn out like this though, the bookie hold back the money for a week but eventually payed out, there was a investigation going on, but when anyone will see this fight and know about the huge bets and how briggs was regarded by many people before the fight, im pretty sure he threw that fight.
Ali vs Liston II is believed to be fixed. And how about this one... Mickey Rourke atsch [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bj3rpr_Vk2U[/ame]
the mickey rouke one just looked like the guy had to much of it what about that one with augustis he took a dive a huge dive didnt even get hit and i thought the same about mosley,
Fireman Jim Flynn (36-19-17) KO1 Jack Dempsey (24-1-5). First fight was a fix and Dempsey took a dive. Rematch (no fix) a year later and Dempsey dominates to KO Flynn with ease in round 1
who the hell comes into a fight vs mayweather with a simple basic jab-body hand-head tactic as his arsenal.
nazim knew, and said, for shane to win, he has to do it early....he wasn't going to win a UD with his skill set, style, and age it was a great plan actually, but floyd handled the shots and then it was over
Mosley was never known to have the greatest strategies out there. Usually relied heavily on his natural athletic ability. Most boxers work so hard on the first gameplan during training it becomes hard to adjust mid-fight to try the B and C plan.
