Im sure it exists. But does it really? Especially at top level. I recently watched an Eddie Hearn interview and he made some good points. For example - Forget reputation, why would a promotor risk his business to fix one fight? How would they fix it? Refs & Judges are appointed by the boxing commission and the ruling organisation such as the WBC. Why would a fighter ruin a potentially great career by taking a dive or not trying on purpose? How would a promotor even go about approaching the commision, organisation, ref, judges and / or fighter to propose this kind of wrong doing? We like to call Top Rank, GBP, Eddie Hearn etc as corrupt at times when people accuse fights of being fixed. But would these mega rich promotional teams really risk everything to fix a fight? What if CJ Ross came out and said, ''GBP offered me money to fix Mayweather/Canelo''. That would be GBP done with. And if this was the case surely someone would talk at some point... We have seen facutal evidence be uncovered to prove fixing at certain levels in football and cricket, which are team games. In boxing, each party has too much to lose, and not much to gain in the big picture. Has there ever been factual evidence uncovered to prove top level fights to be fixed?
Why? Maybe i should have started a Mayweather is ducking Pacman thread. Crawl back in your fat mothers saggy stinking aids ridden pu$$y
Money Bribe the alphabet organizations. Bob Lee the founder and President of the IBF did time for corruption in the organization. Money; Willie Pep took a dive against Lulu Perez. He got a career ban from New York, but his reputation as a great pretty much remains intact. A relationship is built up with an organization, and things are done on nods and winks. DKP along with The Ring magazine infamously rigged the US Boxing Championships, and was exposed by ABC, yet King came out of it alright. Indeed went on to arguably be the biggest promoter of the next 20 years. Probably not so, as mentioned above King and The Ring kept going. These things are considered normal for boxing by the mainstream media. As mentioned Pep/Perez was proven to be fixed. LaMotta/Fox was another fix. Coggi/GonzalezI was fixed. Mark Gastineau entire career was probably fixed. It certainly led to the murder of his promoter, the not particularly well thought of Elvis Parker...
Terrific response Im asking for this kind of thing. Only followed boxing for about 5 years and didnt know any of what you just said. Damn
Ive just noticed , you have only been watching boxing for 5 years?? Read some books on the history and I will explain the long words if you need me to little baby.
Unfortunately this sport is corrupt from top to bottom and has always been. That is not to say there aren't honest people in the game or that everything is a lie or a sham, but make no mistake, there has always been incredible corruption in the sport. Manipulating rankings, bought judges, favoured refs, blacklisting fighters, sometimes outright dives (though rarer today) and so forth.
Hahahahahaha you called me a little baby hahaha i cant stop laughing, your so funny. What a cool guy, everyone is laughing at your joke Get a grip I see what your saying mate, and do agree. But surely if refs, judges, fighters etc were being paid off left right and centre then why doesnt hardly anything come out about it? Only takes 1 person to blab or find something out TBooz had great examples of things happened a long time agao, so probably still does go on. But the amount of fights people accuse of being fixed... and nothing has been uncovered in the recent past I just feel
Firstly, the first words of my post i said 'im sure it exists'. And im not naive enough to think it doesnt. Im asking does it really happen that much. It seems as soon as a judge scores a fight a draw, or the points are debatable, or the ref makes a dodgy decision then people always scream 'FIX' Im not convinced.
Nah, it's not like it's that common. Most fights are on the level I think. Some, like Holyfield-Lewis I do wonder about though. Anyone with eyes can score the winner easily, but the judges can't? The fight wasn't even halfway close and only a mental patient could have Holyfield within spitting distance of Lewis at the end. Some like Chavez-Whitaker or Paquiao-Bradley are just poor decisions. I don't think there was any kind of fix or corruption in those fights...they were close enough that a case (even if it's a slightly flimsy one) can be made there. Sometimes judges may score a fight a certain way out of fear for their safety from a hostile crowd, but that isn't really corruption. I think mostly, the corruption is behind-the-scenes stuff we'd never know about, like ranking manipulation here and there, dodgy managerial contracts, promoters scamming fighters and that sort of thing.
floyd paying 100k for drug test? how much he has paid usada now, half a million? for a test that can be done for like 10k per fight?
