I think Cortez did a great job in a fight that was difficult to ref

X was too busy pulling fakes cos of low blows. Cortez should have penalised Hopkins for holding.

Its strange how one fight he is interrupting all the time, the next he is allowing low blows, feigning injury and headbutting.

    Strange............

Its an amazing feat in itself that JC routed out a victory when nearly everything in that fight was connected to GBP.

Cortez did a good job for this fight and a **** job for the Hatton fight. Not that it mattered.

cortez did an ok job. cortez let hatton grab and hug castillo to his hearts content in that fight, there was no outcry there. if i remember correctly, hatton was beside himself with glee after cortez was announced as the ref for his fight with floyd.

What pisses me off is his inconsistency.

OK he let Hopkins hold and gave them the chance to at times work their way out of the clinches. The clinching did get a little excessive, but I understand the logic behind it.

Now most people know im hardly the biggest Hatton fan here. May I ask why he was penialized for holding versus PBF while Hopkins got away with the same ****?

    Inconsistent to say the least.

Because Mayweather and Mayweather's corner were drawing any holding to the ref's attention immediately (as did Billy Graham did before the fight :patsch ), whereas Calzaghe and his corner kept quiet about it.

People always complain about sportsmen pestering referees but they only do it because it influences referees' behaviour.

In my opinion there was too much hit & hold tactics and use of head
that Cortez let go unpunished on Saturday.
