While I don't know if Cortez was in Kahn's corner, he sure was pretty harsh on Maidana. I don't know why he kept on telling them to brake when Maidana was still punching. It was Kahn that was holding. This fight wasn't one of Cortez's best performances.

He never warned Khan for pushing off or holding.

my father and i were both saying the same things...then at times khan would be holding..madina would still be punching (which he is allowed to do..as long as he isnt the one holding) and Cortez would break them and warn Madina...

the only thing that Cortez did was he did call a slip the time he went down (i forget what round) but then at that point it was clear that if it went to the judges khan would win...so even that could of been a benifit for khan..if madina was actually hurt..and khan could then get to him faster.

Cortez was CLEARLY showing favoritism to Khan. There's no doubting that. Khan barely survived, he didn't look good at all towards the end.

Cortez is a disease. He is inconsistent. He tries to become the main event instead of the third man in the ring. He pushed Maidana. He allowed Khan to hold and punch in the back of the head and when Khan was hurt there was no reason to break the fighters up while both of their hands were free. The guy is distrubing as a ref.

Khan is a classic hype job

Cortez was spot on, Maidana was extremely dirty, didn't even touch gloves in the 1st, then threw an elbow at Khan's head which hit Cortez.
