Let's be honest terrible reffing from the outset

Constant use of the head by hopkins, rightin front of good old joe and no point deductions.

How come hopkins was allowed to hold joe every 5 to 10 secounds or so, but hatton when fighting mayweather wasn't allowed to clinch at all ?

Why the sudden change of heart ????

Hopkins reminded me of john ruiz tonight :deal

Bernard should've been docked a point for excessive holding. Absolutely disgraceful performance from a man not young enough to fight a fair fight with Calzaghe.

Hatton got a point taken away for much much less than that. This ought to end Cortez's career as a top flight referee.

Also, the low-blow, BULL****!!! Professional foul by Hopkins. He was ****ing knackered and it should've been ruled a knockdown or something, there was NOTHING in that punch.

Yup, Cortez is a horrible ref... he tries and make the fight about him.

Spot on. Cortez is utter shite, I can't understand how he lands big fights.
Bernard was holding and hitting all night and Cortez wouldn't break them up until 2-3 punches were thrown, no warning, nothing.
The low-blow fiasco should have been a point from B-Hop.

i rather disagree today cortez did a pretty good job esp. when its a hopkins fight... he kept them apart instead of letting it turn into a hugging and sloppy fight, he did the right thing just by letting both fighters that he was the third man in the ring, no points deducted, making the judges day a little bit easier, so today cortez in my opinion gets a passing grade on my side...:good

    :lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:

That was the sloppiest most hug infested fight since Akinwande - Lewis. Hopkins ought to have had a point deducted.

Shame on Cortez. Hopkins should have had points deducted or even disqualified. It makes me wonder whether outside influences determin the style in which he referees.

Horrid reffing - I totally agree - he shouldn't be allowed to ref again. He gave both a warning early on - and yet only gave one pts deduction in the process.

Had there been an outstanding ref, we would have had a better fight - probably at least.

You guys are starting to sound a lot like Hatton fans........

    What goes around comes around

B-Hop didnt have the legs to do what he did in the first 3 rounds for the whole fight and lost a points decision....nobody was schooled......

Cortez favours American fighters and referees to their style.
It's laughable to compare his refereeing of the PBF v Hatton to tonight.
If Hatton had been B-Hop tonight he would have been DQ'd early.

now imagine if cortez didnt keep them apart as much as he tried too, he tried and did his best on at least making this fight a little bit more interesting other than the clinches that were taking place, people have to realize any other ref is going to have their hands full everytime hopkins is in the ring, I dont know why people are so surprise how the fight turn out to be...
