Cortez is a dick...hell, he looks like one. Moron calls a DQ on Soto when he clearly KOed Lorenzo and literally rearranged the man's face in the process. What a *****.
Hatton had no chance against mayweather. what are people smoking? Hatton can only win one way and that is mugging.
Floyds constant use of the elbows in that fight was both incredibly dirty (should have been picked up by the ref) and brilliant at the same time. Standing up and bullying the bully worked magnificently. Hatton finally got a taste of somebody else being able to break rules with impunity (including Floyd turning his back on Hatton and ducking below the waist). IMO, if Floyd turns his back and ducks on fighters like that, they should just belt him in the back of the head. That'll stop him doing it. But until the refs stop it, Floyd should keep doing it.
Nah I was rooting for Floyd in this one and even I saw how far Cortez was up Hatton's ass. :verysad Especially when you look at passed fights he officiated that he let fighters hug and smooch most of the fight. But every ref just like every fighter has an off night, yes? Maybe, maybe not.
Most people who complained about the officiating never said it was why Hatton lost. Just that is was bad. And it was.
I thought Cortez did a fair job that night. He only started breaking them up quickly once it became apparent that Hatton's punch/rush/hold wrestle tactics were going to make the fight impossible. As it was it was almost unbearable to watch for 3 rds or so. The elbows start coming out when PBF wanted to separation or to stop the rush. I was rooting for Hatton that nite and am certainly no PBF fan, but Hatton had been getting away with those tactics for so long that once they were taken away, he couldnt adjust against a bigger, quicker guy like PBF. IMO, just because he had been getting away with it for so long doesn't mean he should have been or should be allowed to continue them. And while I think Hatton is good for boxing, his tactics aren't. PS- It wouldnt surprise me if PBF had lobbied to have Hatton's tactics monitored and curtailed.... a preemptive strike, if you will.
