No...145lb is the lowest safe weight for cotto...

I guess somewhere 143 would be on the edge of hurting himself...I'm not sure what its called but, fighters tends to have an allowance or buffer between weights where they could weigh in comfortably and draining themselves..

I hope you get my point coz im not really good in some english words..

Lowest safest weight means that's his limit.

Anything past that and it's not good for Cotto. That's his edge.

I understand what you are saying but I disagree. When someone says lowest safest. That's the edge.

Is it? It's hard to tell what is Eze's opinion, everytime you sink one of his arguments he comes back with 'well, that's what the majority of the board would say, not me..'

Oh you like that the majority of ESB will give Cotto more credit than Mayweather despite the fact that Mayweather could beat the fighter first?

    It's the truth.

What are you even talking about? Clearly not aware of my Cotto-hating tendencies anyway...

Yes he did! Just look at his weigh in results on fight night. He would only walk around at about 165 before fight. Floyd is a WW...he's been fighting at that weight for years...he's said himself he's a WW now. Some fighters balloon up after weigh ins, some don't. You don't base what a fighters weight class is on their "POST Weigh in" results...you base it on which division they "choose" to fight in. Again....its simple. Cotto, floyd are WW's....PAC is a Jr WW. Stop thinking so much.

Again....where did he END up fighting his next fight? At Jr WW. He said himself he was no longer a 135 lbs fighter. At some point fighters have to make that judgement call. Just as Cotto did...just as floyd did and just as many other have in the past. But most of the time it's their BODY'S telling them they are no longer a lower weight class fighter and are FORCED to move up. For PAC he could make 130 or 135 easy...He CHOSE to move up. There is a difference you choose to over look. Nate Campbell as I touched on early is anther prime example of fighters who are NO longer smaller fighters and HAVE to make a move north.

But you can't compare apples to oranges.....you said it yourself. Floyd is like Nard...they stay in condition...fighters like DLH and Cotto don't. They do what they do knowing the course they'll have to take during training camp. Many do it. They are big boys...they are Pros, they make their decisions and do it in a professional manner. Just like "CHOOSING" whom to fight and at what weight as in the case for the fight with PAC. Cotto knows what he can handle A LOT more than you do. So who is anyone to say he'll be "drained". Especically given the fact he made 146 easily. Came out and performed agasint a VERY tough fighter whom I felt would beat him and Cotto won! Albiet a close one but that is understandable given the fact Josh is a very good fighter.

No....as fans we don't make the call. As a Man, a pro and a champion that is the call of Cotto and his camp. I guess since Cotto came in at 146 the fight with Jos wasn't for the WW title?

He'll weight far more than 147 on fight night. What the problem is?? Should we say that the fight will be for the Jr MW or Super WW title or even the MW title since that will be the weight he'll be fighting PAC at come fight night?

Again...Corales was getting older...was a TALL and LARGE 135 lb fighter to begin with.....where was his NEXT fight? He was forced to move up b/c he no longer was a 135lb fighter. This is not the same situation with PAC and Cotto. PAC is a Jr WW and Cotto is a WW. THey make weight and are not forced to move up. It's hard to loose a 1 pound when your body telling you that you are no longer at a certain weight. It's not a hard concept to comprehend brah.

It could and has shown to limit how much a fighter puts on after offical weigh in. It's not always true but it has been in the past and nothing is guaranteed in boxing. This sport is about unkonwns and Risks. So its no different here.
