Why should floyd who CAMPAINGNS as a WW fight other WW's at a Catch weight?:huh I'm sorry but your logic escapes me homie. No fighters are the same, no fighters body's are the same nor do they undergo the same training routines. If you are a WW then that's what you are...if you are a Jr WW then....again, that's what you are. Floyd is a WW and that's his division...PAC is not. He's fighting a WW but that don't make him a WW homeboy.
It does't apply b/c he's not fighting a WW in PAC...he's facing a JR WW. So you're absolutely correct....It's NOT the same.
Floyd could possibly fight at Jr WW, but he said himself it was difficult to make 140 and CHOSE to fight at WW. His skills allow him to fight anywhere he wants b/c he's that good. But that don't mean he can fight at HW and win a title. It is what it is. Floyd is a WW who keeps his weight in between fights under control where a lot of other boxers do not. But that don't mean they are not WW's or Jr WW's or MW's....whereever they feel their best weight is.
Dude...they can say that cutting from 160 to 147 in 8 weeks is unhealthy. It's all about how you go about loosing the weight in that time frame...Just like from 160 to 145...it's about preparation and disipline. The rehydration period for boxers are all the same. That is part of the equation when having to cut to make weight. You take that into consideration during training camp. They've made weigh ins a DAY BEFORE fight night for this reason.
If you feel it's an attempt to "drain" Cotto that is your opinion. But that don't make your opinion true, valid or accurate. The fight is at 145 b/c of the situation of two fighters choosing to face one anther from two seperate weight classes and one who has BEEN moving up from 106. Cotto has been right around the Jr WW-WW limit his ENTIRE career.
No one would be flippling out if Floyd was a Jr WW and had been FIGHTER at Jr WW and someone called him out at a higher weight class and they proposed a catch weight. You are fooling only yourself.
I wouldn't be mad but it wouldn't make sense for TWO WW's to fight at a catch weight and only ONE fighter decided to do this in order to make the fight happen. If you are both WW's then WHY fight at a catch weight b/c one fighter propsed doing so?
No one knows for sure what Cotto will rehydrate back up to come fight night, but useing logic...if you are 1 lb less during weigh in and rehydrate in a 24 hour period you would be "one pound less" than you would be if you weghed 146 or 47 in that same time frame.
The fight is in OCT! He's going to stay down in weight. he won't have a lot to loose regardless b/c of the magnitued and time frame that we have before the fight. So he has a luxury that Cotto usually doesn't have already. Being down in weight, having less weight to loose in the same amount of time beofre a big fight.
After a BIG win...overcomming the kind of odds they were able to over come of course they are going to call out the BIG names. Ricky and Marg were also called out. That happens....and in return EVERYONE began saying they wanted to face PAC as well.
You are talking "what ifs" too much. We are talking about facts. PAC only faced Oscar at 147 b/c Oscar was fighting at Jr MW...PAC at 135 at the time and only ONCE. They had to meet somewhere in the middle and DLH wasn't going to 140. It wasn't a permanant placement for PAC to stay at 147. Floyd HAS BEEN fighting at 147! For years. He he now decided that he would be too small at 147 people would begin to question why? He's older...he's stated in the past when he was younger he struggled to make 140 or it wasn't as easy anymore which is why he jumped to 147 where he wouldn't have to struggle.
You keep comparing apples to organge which is why you are confused son. You keep saying Floyd and PAC...Catch weights ect ect. When Floyd and PAC are not the same people. Nor are they the same size or in the same weight class. You can be the exact same weight of a guy who is NATRUALLY the larger man in build and physical demensions but that don't mean you are the same size when it comes down to it.
So Floyd is a WW because he fights at WW even though he can easily make 140? Floyd should fight fighting at Jr WW where pac is.
