:good By the way. I feel Pac beats Cotto at 147. So Im annoyed that this is happening at 145 and not 147.
Man I don't remember that interview at all. Floyd had cut 9lbs earlier in his career before at lower weights. He was only around 145 for his 140lb fights. Floyd moved up because there was nothing left for him at 140.
I think Paq will probably win on points. I look for it to be close but I just am not sure that Cotto can match Pac's output.
And they cut weight to make those weigh ins prior as well. Cotto doesn't weigh 160 but I'll use it an example. If he goes from 160 to 147, he'll go back to 160. If he goes from 160 to 145. He'll still go back to 160. I feel it is because what else could it be? Pac was a 106lber at age 16. He grew into his frame and his body grew. He's a natural and legit 140lber now. Former 106lber doesn't fly. Floyd was 106lbs at age 16 and winning Golden Gloves but no one uses that.
If Floyd goes down to 143 and then comes up in weight, he's moving up. I don't want catchweights to happen with Floyd it was just an example. PS - I hit the next page.
Pac is fighting at 145 because of this weight advantage Cotto has over him. Despite the fact that fought at WW before. Floyd gives up the same weight advantage to Cotto so why shouldn't Floyd get that catchweight to even it out like Pac is doing? That's false. If you start at 160 and cut down to 145 or 147 you are going to go back to 160.
I've always said he's small at 147 and should be at 140. He can make 140, he wouldn't struggle. He stated he weighed 146 in an interview a few weeks after the Marquez fight was announced. Floyd and Pac weigh the same but Floyd is little bit bigger than Pac. I've never said the were the same size but the call for Pac to has this weight advantage reduced against the WWs. Floyd should be able to do the same no?
mayweather weigh the same as pacquiao? like this was maywether's last 3 fights? how much did he weight in the oscar fight? and do you think floyd can still make 135 right now if floyd is of the same size as pac? pac can still make 135 if he wants and is just 138 in the hatton fight. so are you saying that cotto is sure to become another castillo? how about the other fighters who agreed to fight at a cathcweight by going down, did they become a castillo? how about those who went down a division, are they all weight-drianed after? the thing is, some of you are more afraid for cotto than cotto himself and his team. if they wants 145 to get a pac fight, it means that they commmit to it and can make it. and judging from his last fight, cotto did make 146 easily against clottey.
PAC faught at 147 ONE TIME against DLH whom was the GOLDEN GOOSE! PAC weighed out risk vs opportunity and decided to JUMP up 2 divisions to meet DLH. But that wasn't going to be his weight class. PAC was fine at 135! He resides now at 140 where his team feels he very comfortable. Floyd again is physically bigger than PAC...height and physical demensions, Frame. He just stays on weight all year round. He won't go up or balloon up in weight come fight night. But PAC and Floyd are completely different men who put on weight, loose weight and have different lifestyles altogether. You can't group these two guys who fight in different weight classes together based on weight alone. THis is a multi faceted equation and all variables need to be taken into account. I didn't say he wouldn't as 100% go up to 160 or past 160. It's a logical stance given the fact that you have the same amount of time to rehydrate and gain back weight. So if you weight 145 and have 24 hours to rehyadrate its probable that if you weigh 147 you might weight more on fight night.
Exactly....He won't be off 8 months and knowing he'll have to loose that extra pound I'm sure Cotto will keep his weight down knowing what lies ahead.
In theory you are correct....but as a PRO and a MAN who CLAIMS he is a WW....NO. He can't play both sides without hearing **** from the boxing world b/c it's Floyd who makes his decisions on who he fights and at what weight. He's BEEn campaining as a WW. So we as fans and the boxing world take his word for it. But I see your angle. PAC never claimed or said he'd campaine as a full fledged WW. He has said he's a Jr WW.
I don't like the catchweights, but at the same time, nobody is forced to accept it. If they agree to a catchweigt, then **** it, both parties agreed to it - no excuses. Especially in this case. Cotto threw out 145 before the negotiations even started.
