    How so?

It must have been Oscar that didn't get his career high vs. Floyd?

ya I feel you. Floyd may not be the best at managing money, but he knows how to get it. I hope Cotto keeps this trend going and continues with the big paydays. Pacquiao needs to follow suit allow.

Cotto might not get that much but he will be getting a career high payday in this fight.

Self-employed also has more risk, responsibility, and cost. I've been both W2 and an independent agent and in my experience, the income difference was negligible but the pain in the ass was ridiculous.

Of course Cotto and Mayweather are on a whole 'nother level than me.

Floyd was on the lower end of a 65/35 split with Oscar and rumoured to have made around 32 million. No way Mayweather/Cotto does anything close to them sort of numbers. He may end up with about 15 to 18 million.....which aint ****ing bad!

Yep, you got to remember, Pacquiao and Mayweather would have essentially been in a bidding war to get the Cotto fight. He's the third biggest PPV seller behind those two, and whoever missed out on this fight would definitely feel it in their wallet and would lose a chunk of PPV sales. It's essentially two of the top three PPV stars squaring off.

Mayweather - Cotto is a fight between two of boxing's biggest names. Pacquiao is going to end up fighting Bradley or someone else no one outside of this forum has heard of.

Cotto sells PPVs in his own right, and that's why he'd get a big slice of the pie here.

I think it might be accurate Oscar biggest ppv fight numbers were against Floyd, Mosley I am not so sure as I don't know what the split was and he might have made more against Oscar. Hatton and Ortiz diffently made their biggest pay day against Floyd and Marquez either made more against Pacuaio or Floyd but there wouldn't be much in it.

35% you'd have to estimate about 2.85 Million PPV sales for him to get a 30M$ purse.

considering that they thought at some point Floyd vs Mosley would do over 3M PPV sales maybe that's where they're coming from.

Oscar banked 52M on a 65% split that did 2.4M PPV buys and the highest gate in history. And Oscar was actually promoting his own fight. This time Floyd is hiring Oscar to promote his fight.

if 65% is 52M, then the total purse split is 80M at 2.4M PPV buys.

For Cotto to get 30M at 35% with the same kind of deal Floyd was getting against Oscar, the fight would have to generate 85.7M

if Floyd Oscar did 80M at 2.4M buys, then 85.7M is 2.6M PPV buys

just estimates being thrown here but it gives an idea of how successful this fight wuold have to be for Cotto to make 30M.

Also, if they really think Cotto will make that much then Pac deserved a shitload more than 40M against Floyd.
