It's HIGHLY UNLIKELY that Cotto will go for a belt at Super Middleweight, he's just too small. But, it does have me wondering how he would stack up against the current belt holders.

    Andre Ward - WBA
    Sakio Bika - WBC
    Carl Froch - IBF
    Arthur Abraham - WBO

I don't think he stands a chance against against Froch or Ward but he may be able to hang with Abraham and Bika.

No , that would be pushing it .

Miguel and Freddie know their limits .

Even staying at 160 to defend the title is pushing it .

I really hope Cotto stays the hell away from Golovkin...

Ha! Andre would knock him out in less than 2 rounds...

He weighed 161 lbs on fight night against Martinez he would be up against fighters ranging from 173 - 190 possibly.

Froch only rehydrates a few pounds but his height, reach, strength and chin would likely be too much for Cotto.

P4P Cotto more skilled than all of them bar Ward but there is weight classes for a reason.

He is as likely to become a 5 division champion by dropping to lightweight.

Abraham would be too strong for him. His best shot is Bika and he won't be easy either.

Cotto can barely hang at middleweight.

...except he just dominated every second against the lineal champ and beat him into submission on his stool? :huh

Yes, Martinez was old and banged up - but he was (albeit to a lesser extent) old and banged up in his last few defenses as well. Aside from Round 12 with Chavez he was never even close to beaten up like he was the entire way by Cotto - and Cotto was beating him up worse than Round 12 with Chavez the entire way.

    So 'barely hang' seems disingenuous.

I dont even think he could beat Abraham at 168.

He'd be fighting guys 20 lbs heavier than himself.

I agree, especially with Abraham seeming to have a fire lit under his ass since the Stieglitz rubber match. In that, and the Sjekloca defense he was clearly awoken from the lull he was in last year (Stieglitz rematch, De Carolis, and Shihepo - all terrible performances that suggested he was completely done)

Had it been a year ago, Cotto might have stood a chance to upset the sleepwalking version of Abraham (though any time after March 2013 it wouldn't have been worth it since Abraham no longer had a belt to justify the risk) - but now? :verysad Too much size & firepower.

Cotto can't beat any of them, they're just too big/heavy/long for him to compete. Almost all of them know that they can outbox him any the only advantage cotto would have is to stay close and bang, if you can call that an advantage.

Bika is all wrong for Cotto .

His style is too awkward/unpredictable .

He will tire Miguel out in the second half and have his way with him .
