For the haters. He actually has the potential to generate 100 million because in the deal includes joint promotion of concerts in Puerto Rico (rihanna/shakira - rocnation artists). The 50 million is guaranteed for three fights, NOT including the additional $ brought in by PPV buys. Will this be "bad for boxing?" Maybe only slightly. Cotto will just slow down the development of the middleweight division at worst. Wouldnt be surprised if the first one or two of this deal are soft opponents and the third is against floyd pac or ggg to end his career. A lot of you haters love to bite the hand that feeds. Cotto has been a cornerstone for the sport of boxing this last decade, a warrior, and hes earned the right to cash out. Im not being a fanboy here either, this is just reality. Common sense. You folks are like that 4 year old fat kid thats throwing a tantrum over not getting candy in a Walmart checkout line. Keep your *****ing, none of it will ever register in Cottos mind.

Agree , but i dont feel Roc will sign a new contract this big if hes expected to fight 2 soft and 1 true fight , seems like a waste of money for them.....
they rather have him take 1 famous WW and hope he beats him(while dropping the WBC after the fight) and then Canelo/Pac/Floyd (2/3) if he can.

this is true, it was confirmed on espndeportes by cotto him self, the bad part for rocnation is that only big fight for cotto left is canelo...
cant fight pac (arum-cotto) and cant fight floyd(haymon-jay-z)...
this will give canelo some leverage over cotto...

Boxing fans fans should have zero interest in stories like these

The only thing that matters is who he chooses to fight next

Well I wouldn't have taken the Canelo fight either for this money!

Agreed. Are they throwing money away on this deal?

Doubt seriously Cotto or his representative read the fine print.

You pay Cotto 50 million over a 10 fight deal and you're risking losing money.
You do that over the course of 3 fights and you're guaranteed to lose money.

You just cant hand Cotto that type of money unless he'd be fighting the A list in boxing which would be Pac, Marquez, Mayweather, Canelo, and even Ward and Chavez Jr.

.......and each of those guys will be demanding more money than Cotto will make which makes the matchups about impossible to make if you believe the 50 mil figure.
