P4P status involves every division. The Talent pool in his ERA throughout the entire organization of boxing from Fly-Heavy was deeper than what it is today. So it is alot harder to get to the #1 spot. Ya get it now?

What??? Fernando Vargas. Lots of heart but was always anstep below Tito and Oscar. Could have done more with better Management. 31 fights, 26 wins and 5 losses. Cotto already has 32 wins and still have a few years to go. Vargas was never the same after Tito. But I think Cotto has acquired the boxing skils that neither Vargas or Tito ever acquired. Too early to say. But if Cotto beats Margarito he will be writing his name in boxing history big time.

Naw, I wouldn't call Cotto the next Vargas. Cotto definitely has the better boxing skills and has beaten better competition even though Vargas has beat some good competition.

Vargas got a gift in the Winky fight and looked bad with Stephans. He always wanted to beat the elite (Oscar, Mosley, and Tito). He even used the juice to win and could not. IMO he was a B+ fighter. He was tough, emotional, and the youngest 154 champion. He gave alot to boxing and got alot back with the respect and invested businesses with the paydays he recieved. Cotto is a totally different fighter. Actually, Cotto would beat him if they wer in the same weight class.

You are the ignorant fool. When the hell were Tua and Vitali in a P4P list? Anyway, we have Mayweather at #1, Paquiao(the mexican destroyer) and Calzaghe(the most accomplished supermiddleweight ever) at 2 and 3, and guys like Juan Manuel Marquez(who is the only rival to Paquiao), Hopkins is still in some lists, Hatton(sole loss to Mayweather #1 p4p) Cotto himself, and the warriors Rafa and Izzy rounding out the P4P list. If thats not a good talent pool I don't know what is. And there's others like Calderon, Pavlik, Haye, Wlad, Witter, Guzman, Chris John, etc. There's also the future P4P'ers, like Andre Berto, Yuriorkis Gamboa, and Juan Manuel Lopez.

UliUli, you lost me there for a minute, but I get what your saying. By the way, Vargas was involved in some good fights win or lose, but these guys all came up from lower weights to beat him. Cotto already proved himself at two weight divisions and could possilby fight at 154 someday. The talent pool and others that think your talking about P4P possibly turned into a curve ball from the meaning of the original thread. The members attacking have to read again what your trying to say. I don't believe Cotto could beat Tito at his level right now with the level Tito was back in the day (147). A left hook changes everything.
