If were talkin 5 or 6 years ago when Hatton was still goin strong and Cotto was fighting at that weight i will have to say i havnt got a clue but that would of been a fight id be doin backflips to watch. I think id choose Hatton on workrate in a brutal close fight. Id think Cotto would tire with Hattons relentless pressure fighting, im judging it on the fact that even thought Cotto did fight at 140 he was never built to stay in that division and would never be at hs strongest. Id of said at 140 Hatton wins but at 147 Cotto takes the honours. Though i bet peoples opinions on this fight could be quite varied.
Kostay Tszyu and Floyd Mayweather beat up Miguel too. He knew it all too well and made sure not to touch any of the killers at 140 with his t-rex arms.
I really don't like Cotto at all,but in his defense he went downhill fast after moving to 147 (i don't fault him that much, boxing is tough). At 140 Cotto was a B-E-A-S-T. Cotto clears Hatton out in the 5th.
Hatton. People keep sayin Hatton would lose to this and that but he cleared up the division, If Cotto and his crew thought he was the man to clean up the division they would of had him do it.
At Hatton's best and Cotto's worst it would be competitive. Cotto had a suspect chin at 140, but Cotto's speed, power, and ring intelligence would be too much for Hatton. He does have good footwork though, but makes way too many mistakes to give Cotto trouble.
They were too busy trying to avoid opponents who could crack an egg past a certain point. Hatton being one of them. Cotto at 140 was undernourished and his punch resistance was not what it should have been. Hatton would have had a good chance of winning.
