Thats not a fair pic to go by as cotto looked bigger for bis middleweight fight, i believe that was during his training for delvin, still ggg is the bigger man yes, they are both cool with eachother, i remember when the rumor was flying around that cotto and ggg sparred together and cotto was schooling him all of a sudden the comments were "im not suprised cotto is superior, ggg hasnt fought anyone blah blah blah" look the thread up i hope it gets bumped

 

The point is that the phrasing of the OP seems to indicate its about middelweights in the past too.

Golovkin himself would be SMW or even MW since he's only like 165-167lbs when fully hydrated.
