Both Pavlik and Pacman settled with the WBC. It was all bull**** anyway. The WBC was trying to charge KP for the Taylor rematch and the BHop fight; both non-title fights, and they wanted sanctioning fees for fights they had nothing to do with.

If Gary Lockett can get a shot at Pavlik, then Rubio has every right to face Pavlik as well.

Agreed; Rubio earned his shot by beating Zertuche, and Ornelas.

Its decent. Cotto v Jennings for WBO 147 title. Pavlik v Rubio for 160 title. I'm sure Arum could put some decent undercards on. It's a decent bill but shouldn't be PPV. Both of those are good main events that stand on their own on normal tv, not ppv.

I will almost certainly travel to Youngstown for this. When I first read about this the idea was to also make both main events available at the arenas. In other words if I'm in Youngstown then the Cotto fight will also be aired on the arena's giant screens as well. Thats an added reason to go see this. But,overall, this isn't really a ppv card. Cotto will probably do Jennings in handily and Pavlik will also be a huge favorite.

I agree, Rubio has been winning and beaten a couple solid guys in the process. He's worked his way into his slot. I think with Rubio's power and the uncertainty of how Pavlik deals with the Hopkins schooling that there is the possibility of Rubio pulling the upset. Unlikely but the possiblity is there.

HBO doesn't want to put up for these fights so Arum is trying to make something out of them with PPV.

It would be disastorous for Pavlik if Rubio were to pull off an upset, and yes, very unlikely. I really think Rubio is going to be on the receiving end of a short, but extremely brutal beating. Rubio can't take Pavlik's jab away, nor does he move real well. He struggled with Ornelas who recently went 1-1 with McKart. I've been a big McKart fan over the years, but he's close to shot. At least he sure as hell ain't the same guy that lost an SD to Winky.

When Pavlik was a young amature, he was a slick boxer. He won a few national championships, and amassed an amature record of 89-9. The power showed up when Kelly was about 16, and he totally changed his style. I would love to see Kelly use this fight as an opportunity to knock the rust off the tools and the style he abandoned, and just give Rubio a 12 round boxing lesson. However, I don't think he will.

I think it is much more likely that he will come in looking to make a big statement. The problem is you can't make much of a statement when Rubio is the opponent.

Ticket prices should range anywhere from $50 to $300 ringside. Again, he wants to be able to give back to his hometown fans.

How close to going on sale are the tickets? Rubio even signed yet or does this have to be done on both ends? Cotto and Pavlik?

Rubio has agreed to fight here and money is not an issue. A network has yet to pick up the fight, which is why it will likely be a PPV. To date, a contract hasn't been signed, unless it was done very recently.

Tickets should go on sale as soon as the ink dries. I would expect sometime before X-mas.

As far as Cotto, I'm not sure. I saw it listed for Feb. 14th, not the 21st.

So you are saying this doesn't have to be a double header PPV for the fight to happen as planned? Pavlik will just take what the gate or a single PPV event would bring? I take it Arum won't talk to anyone but HBO on this?

    Not necessarily true.

Ideally, this would be a double header from Top Ranks perspective. Kelly just wants to fight in Y-town.

Tune into 1240, the fan, on wednesday night from 6p-7p. It's a local boxing show. It is broadcasted over the net. Type in 1240, the fan and hit the listen live button.

Took a little while to find. Their web site is crap. You would expect a 'listen' button on the home page.
