They both were in there against bums ... they didn't show any improvements from their last fights. In fact I think that Pavlik looked worse ... he let a bum take him 10 rounds. The didn't prove anything to have me think that they will be the same fighters they once were. I doubt that TopRank puts them in the ring with some serious threats the next time around for these guys. I think they're going to use their names and their home turf to boost attendance but they aren't going to fight anyone that can beat them. Cotto's not going to face Mosley because ... Mosley isn't a big name by himself and he said that he's not going to the eastcoast to fight Cotto. He's not going to fight Clottey because Clottey's too dangerous - He's not going to fight Williams .... Maybe that bum Cintron or Berto -- Pavlik isn't going to fight Abraham ... I read that TopRank is looking to stage him against Vernon Forrest, Felix Sturm, Sergio Mora, or John Duddy ... and personally I think Duddy has a good chance to beat him. No Williams, No Wright, No Abraham, nobody !
you know what, pavlike worried me a bit and i thought i was the only one who noticed that...... cotto looked good, but it's really hard to tell with guys in there that are just gonna be taking punches....
Well, Pavlik proved you can't count. There was no 10th round. You go downhill from there, so why bother....
It's possible that many are being a bit too critical of Pavlik. Maybe too much was expected of him in the first place? Both Kelly and Miguel were entiltled to some warm ups. They both lost in their previous fights after being unbeaten. But I agree, nows the time for both Cotto and Pavlik to s**t or get off the pot. Cotto should rematch Mosely, and Pavlik should fight Abraham, and these fights should happen before the end of the year.
becareful according to booradely you need to watch the fight in HD to see Pavlik's improvements.
yeah i agree with most fo you, pavlik looked sloppy but threw alot of punches...rubio wasnt really throwing back though so it shouldve ended earlier... rubio was just there to be hit...i think cotto did good tho...he took his time, felt the guy out, used the jab and then caught him with that left lol...it mightve happened sooner if jennings wasnt so afraid to engage. he was standing away alot of the time
Cotto looked pretty good...Pavlik didn't look very good at all...His speed is nothing!! Im startin to wonder bout him??:think He may have juss been a 1 hit wonder against Taylor..Ima make my judgements later about Kelly!:good
agreed and i think they will come back with stronger fights next time around. they are both entitled to the opponents they picked last time out because losing badly after such a strong run doesn't guarantee that the fighter will come back the same as he was before - although i expected both to pass these tests as i think they are both mentally tough fighters. neither pavlik now cotto are known for taking soft options and i expect their form to continue like this.
The both needed a confidence builder, and both left the fight victorious, full of confidence. Give some credit to Kelly and Miguel, they both came back on top from pretty bad losses. But there's one guy who's confidence is still in pieces, that's Bob Arum.
one was a title shot and the other was a mandatory defense to keep his belt. Anything else is garbage. Comeback fights? Technically. I'm tired of hearing this crap to be honest. One fights for a title, the other fights to keep it and people complain. Talk about the proverbial no win situation.
Rubio kept his hands up and played defense moving backwards for 90% of the fight. Doesn't matter who the boxer is it takes two to make a good fight. Rubio never showed up.
You're just a ****ing hater, always was, always will be.Altough I was not particulary impressed with either and quite dissapointed in Rubio's performance,Cotto fought good against an opponent who was better than expected. And no you dickeating hater Cotto ain't afraid of Clottey or Williams or Mosley or Berto.
