cotto does not make the decisions that rally matter, or he would demand the bout at 160. freddie, says these things & the boxing media say nothing!!

Catchweight for a fight for the Middleweight Crown is pretty ridiculous especially if you remember that both guys hold titles at the weight...

Man, I am stunned Cotto is taking this fight. I guess it doesn't matter if he loses. Win or lose, the Canelo fight will still sell.

And GGG did say he would fight at 154. So if he agrees to 155, then fair game.

I still got GGG, despite how much I like Cotto.

It wont be 155, will be 156.

Pretty sad though. Funny how 154 is the weakest division.

We have a strong 152lb champ in Floyd.

We have a good 155 pound champ in Canelo.

We will have a 156 pound champ with Cotto.

Then of course GGG the Middleweight champ. :conf

Ducking Ward? Ward isn't even fighting at the moment. LOL. GGG hater. :-(

  9. Why Cotto won't be fighting GGG next...

…and it’s not necessarily fear or weight difference: it’s the relative lack of a big crowd at MSG and the fact that discounted tix were still being offered by email a day before the fight. There’s still not enough money to be made fighting GGG to justify the risk posed by his power. He needs a much bigger scalp on his resume than what his record currently shows. What happened to the Chavez Jr. fight?

Frankly, I didn’t think Geale put up much of a fight. Or tried very hard to carry on. I’m trying hard not to hate on GGG, because I really like him as a personality and you can’t deny he brings the excitement of a big punch. Just really want to see him tested by SOMEBODY — somebody who, when they land a flush right hand, can hurt you.

If Golovkin wants it...so what? It's his choice after all...pretty simple.

He shouldn't have the middle weight belt if can't make the weight ,that's just crazy ,instead they should just fight at 154 for some made up title and if GGG accepts the challenge so be it.

I hope GGG calls their bluff and says sure. He said he can make 154 so let's get Cotto out the way and relieve him of that lineal middleweight championship in the process.

Cotto is not a MW champion. The Martinez fight is a joke and he won't defend the belt against MW contenders.

He loses to good fighters, comes back by fighting some crippled dudes like foreman/margo/sergio, repeat. I have yet to see the "massive fight-anyone balls" Cotto's fans rave about.

He's if anything more of a cherry picker/ducker than the other members of that 147 cluster****.

Cotto is the lineal champ so he should fight at 160. But it's true.....GGG is bigger. Freddie knows what he sees in Golovkin is a real threat and is doing what he's supposed to do.....get his fighter any advantage he can get that legal. But to hold that title of a "Lineal" champion you gotta give that kind of title a straight up fight at whatever weight you hold that recognition. I'd still want to see it at a catch weight......or at 154 for a nontitle fight. They have similar styles in my opinion and it would be interesting to see how youth and size over comes experience and ring intelligence. Well....they are actually the same age. lol
