Cotto and Roach want to drain GGG to 155 lbs for a MW title fight unification

Applying scrutiny to Cotto's resume makes grim reading. Incumbent champions beaten? And even those have an asterixes next to them due to the opponents fighting injured for paydays.

If you have trouble making 155-160 lbs you know is time to move to 168 too many boxers draining themselves to the limit of the division to ballon themselves three division north. Those are the real cheaters, thats why some boxers make catchweights because of too much size diference.

depends if ggg's team knows he can make 155. this could sucker cotto into a fight same way roach suckered dlh into a fight with pac.

If the fight is for the 160 lb. title, it should be at 160 lbs., but Golovkin said that he would go down to 154 to fight Void. Golovkin would still knock Cotto out at 155 or 154, but that is Jr. Middleweight not middleweight................Hagler did not fight at 154 for his 160 lb. title................

Once you're draining yourself to **** your stamina and your power diminish considerably. Look at Dawson for exemple, he said he can make 168 lbs comfortably and he got tko'd by a featherfisted fighter in Ward, then he wasn't the same fighter.

Boxers tend to fool themselves that they can go down to a certain weight comfortably but when they get in the ring they find that are shadows of what they were. Golovkin is a well fitted middleweight and if he goes down in weight more than 2 pounds he's gonna find himself in serious troubles.

    This is fine tbh.

It's Cotto's way is saying Golovkin is the best MW in the world and he needs an advantage to beat him. An advantage that Golovkin himself provoked by saying he would fight from 154-168 for the right money.

This will be more than he's ever made in a fight he will still be a huge favourite in. I say he sweats off the pounds, beats cotto in December and leaves the MW division in his own hands. If anyone wants to be king they go through Golovkin. Even Quillan would have to take the fight then and Sylvester will fight anyone anyways.

It's all about risk reward, it is a risk for Golovkin dropping the pounds but the rewards far out weigh the risks involved.

In a fair world he shouldn't have to do this but boxing is a business and Cotto is the A side. If this has to be done to make the fight then Golovkin should do it. He'll still beat him at 154 if he had to imo.

no more with this small middleweight stuff. if hes big enough to destroy the middleweight champ and take his belt, then fight your fellow title holder in a unification at the fuc.king weight the belts are in. These coddled fighters are disgraceful when they pull the catch weight garbage for a division seperated by all of 6 pounds. :patsch
I dont remember legends like Tommy Hearns jumping up from 160 and going straight to 175 and fighting Andries for his WBC light heavyweight title. can you imagine the HITMAN requesting a 170 pound catch weight so he has a better chance at winning?? :rofl
Thats why a guy like Hearns is a legend and a guy like cotto will have asterix and a list of demands he will be remembered for when he dared to be great. PATHETIC :-(

Here are Roach's thoughts about a possible clash between the MW 'lineal' champion Miguel Angel Cotto and the WBA & IBO MW champion Gennady Golovkin :

"I like the Canelo fight better, but I like a fight with Golovkin second. I'd have no problem taking that fight,"

"If we did fight him I'd like the fight to be closer to 154 to make him come down a little bit.:)lol::patsch:nut) He's very strong, but I think we definitely could negotiate that fight for sure," Roach said. "Cotto made 155 last time. He's a little smaller than Golovkin, so I'd like him to come down as far as possible."

"Golovkin puts himself in great position to punch. He was very impressive. He took a punch to give a punch. He's very strong," Roach said. "His power is quite impressive, but he's knocking out middle-class guys, not top-level guys. I could definitely get Miguel ready for that fight."

Its pretty clear that they would want to make this fight happen @ 155 lbs or even less for a MW unification title fight. :verysad:verysad

Ehhhh WTF... The 160 WBC Champ will defend his 160 WBC Title but the opponent is just allowed to weigh 155?!?! Hahahaha :patsch

It's right, GGG said 154 to 168, but that is a stupid game from cott/Roach... :good

Hey GGG, call out Ward for your Titels, but tell him the catch weigh will be 156 :thumbsup:thumbsup

Obviously I understand why Roach/Cotto would want this but it just makes a mockery of the title for me. I wouldn't have a problem if they went down to 154lbs but fighting at 155 for the Middleweight title, it's sad.
