Cotto and Steward

  1. I think youre right, man. Cotto hasn't been the same. He was probably scared out of his wits. He was tired, he couldnt hurt Margarito and Margarito kept coming forward.

i dont like the cotto/steward combination. Steward has had mostly tall fighters, plus the language barrier. I'm not to sure about this one, guys. I'd prefer nazim (though u have the language barrier issue there too) or nacho, not sure that'll happen being with Top Rank. Those guys roll with GBP fighters (DLH, marquez, hopkins, mosley).

I think that given Cottos style... Teddy Atlas or Kevin Rooney would be ideal. I think either one could improve Cottos head movement, ring generalship, and punch variety. I can easily see Cotto fighting like a 147lb Tyson.

What are you talking about, he's one of the strongest guys in the division, the only guy I can think of that might be stronger than him is Mosley, maybe Clottey.

Steward scored the fight for Clottey before the fight even started.

You know, i really hope steward would come in and just build on whats there because i can already tell he would probably teach cotto to clinch (cotto almost NEVER clinches) and i would hate for him to come in and for cotto to become a totally differant fighter.

lol hahahahaha? What a well thought response. Rooney or Atlas because the style in which they teach is suited to Cotto's attributes. Head movement, peak-a-boo hand position, and punching power. Cotto has short arms, fast hands, and power in both hands. It's a hell of a lot better trainer to fighter matchup then Cotto and Manny. Manny style of training is geared towards tall long armed punchers... Hearns, McClellan, Lewis, Wlad, Cintron, Lee, and so on. Can anyone realy picture Cotto trying ot fight with his left shoulder forward, left hand down, and shooting the jab from his hip.

JMM's trainer perhaps? he's trained fighters against Pac more than anybody else, why not him? JMM and Cotto can train side by side!

how do you figure? why the hell does everyone underestimate clottey so much? cotto has not been gun shy whatsoever. he's only gotten smarter. he's not the same fighter who recklessly goes out to knock guys out regardless of what punishment he takes. he's finally matured into a much more well rounded fighter. he knows his conditioning isn't the best and he knows to be more careful around the bigger, tougher guys like margarito and clottey. i don't understand where all this bull**** about him being damaged, broken, and gun shy come from. he's just more careful now that he's faced a guy who can take everything he has and keep coming forward throwing.

Cotto taking Steward as his trainer makes me less confident in picking Pacquiao. I think this would be a great hookup.

Of all the potential trainers, Manny is the best fit for Miguel. Really solid choice if true.
