Why do so many people insist these old legends continue to keep fighting long past their prime until they eventually get beat by nobody's?

Cotto is just another example of this happening, He was a shadow of his former self, He could easily have got stopped in this fight,Errol spence would has stopped him, id even favor mikey garcia at this point. He doesn't need the money, he legacy is already set in stone a true hall of famer, why continue to fight?. He should have bowed out after the canelo fight, Great way to go out against one of the best of the new era.

Pacquiao suffered the same fate against jeff horn, Bhop recently got knocked out the ring. We all seen what happened to roy jones and various others, even ali suffered the same fate, Roy jones should have retired at 34 after winning the HW title. Sure its easy to say in hindsight but think about it your not going to get a better opportunity to go out on top than moving up to HW and winning the title at 34. Wlad had been looking pretty bad in his last few fights before fury, another sign it was time to call it a day, he did a good job of damage control going out against AJ but all the signs were there before fury.

If fighters want to keep fighting on its their choice, you have exceptions like bhop who still go on and be great. But the people out here claiming these old fighters are "ducking" the next generation is disgraceful, Pacquiao has no buisness fighting spence or thurman or crawford at this point, neither does floyd, floyd ducking GGG at 40 years old is the most ******ed ducking allegation in boxing history.

Are they fights i would still love to see? hell yeah but at the same time its not smart, you had your time, you still might be a good fighter but farther time is real you have nothing left to prove. The only time its good for older fighters to keep fighting is if they haven't proved themselves and have nothing to lose or turned pro late or haven't have many fights, all the guy's who have proved themselves already, won multiple world titles etc have no business doing this imo. It always leads to a tarnished legacy.

He tried to pull a Berto and it didn't work out for him. Guess they thought they could easily shatter Ali's glass chin like Vargas did.
It really goes to show how underrated Vargas is. I was fully expecting Brook to have his hands full in that fight , pity it didn't happen. He should have went through with it instead of taking the shellacking off Golovkin.
