Yes I think he was giving all he had, which was very little at that point. I guess our definitions of bravery are different. I dont see how anyone in the physical condition of Cotto could have done anything more. At that point he was sapped, drained, bloodied, swollen and beaten badly.
No Cotto is not shorter than Pac hes taller No Cotto wasnt getting outmuscled and pushed around, he was getting beat to the punch, hit hard and didnt have any defense was Dempsey outmuscling and pushing Willard around too? Was Duran outmuscling Barkley? Anyway I told you all what Pac was going to do to Cotto in this 1 despite being the smaller man
I did mean Cotto is an inch taller, not shorter but still is meaningless in his arguement, an inch is nothing. Cotto was being outmuscled after the fourth round, thats why he tried to box from the outside. Good call on the outcome.
I completely agree, at the moment i'm high on Cotto being very gutsy and showing heart, but i've got to be objective, he admitted defeat after the middle rounds. I thought he might have won round 10 though after that pummeling in the previous round, like you say the guy has an abundance of heart but in context the real answer isn't yes.
Braver doesn't equate better. How do you know he wasn't trying to back peddle and set Pac up with one big shot. Sort of dupe him. He tried brawling it out and that ended up being his downfall. So why continue a failed plan? I agree that Cotto should have done more work on the inside, however Pac is so quick and fast that he wasn't capitalizing on it as is and Pac moves in and out so quick anyway. Pac looked very uncomfortable on the inside. In the middle and outside he was in dangerous territory. But if you watched the fight, you see Cotto coming back after big Pac shots trying to slug it out and then getting almost knocked out. That is why he reverted to a different plan. You say submit, but you don't know if he wasn't trying to set Pac up with a big shot. Those knockdowns discouraged him and broke him down mentally, but somewhat physically.
I agree. I think Cotto was simply trying something different because what he was doing wasnt working. It had nothing to do with concedeing in the fight. There was a reason his face was a bloody swollen mess by midfight.
