Let the man work his weight into the weight class. Felix Trinidad didn't do that & just went straight for the top guys and look what happen. Time will tell if Cotto really belongs at 160 but people always want to rush fights. The man is at the end of his career let him make the most possible money he can before taking on another big name

Another person wanting to let a multi millionaire pollute the sport and a division to make a few more millions. Great.

Obviously. Do you have a serious answer?

The fact that GGG deserves a shot at that lineal title doesn't mean **** either. You don't always get what you deserve in life.

This is just the worst kind of logic, though.

How so? It's a fact. You don't always get what you deserve in life. If Cotto retires and GGG never get's to fight him for the lineal title it doesn't really matter as everybody already considers GGG the #1 middleweight in the world and knows Cotto would be no match for him.

But that scenario would have a seriously negative impact on GGG's career. Whether you choose to believe it or not, the casual public does not know that Cotto is not match for GGG because the casual public has no idea who GGG is. To say that just because sometimes things are sh*t and unjust we should be alright with things being sh*t and unjust is a terrible line of thinking.

Not in this scenario. To say that a fighter must remain in a weight division, not retire and fight somebody who could seriously harm them just because it will help that other guys career is not a great line of thinking either.

The fact is Cotto may vacate/retire and GGG may never get a shot at that lineal title. That is not unjust and people should be alright with it.

Well if he's going to retire/vacate then he should have vacated a long time ago instead of taking 2 voluntaries and 0 mandos over what will end up being over a year and a half as champion...

You seem to be mixing up people thinking Cotto could handle things a lot better than he has with the people saying he's a coward and he has to fight GGG...

I don't see why Cotto shouldn't do what is best for Cotto if the governing body allows him. GGG probably wouldn't feel sorry for Cotto and let him win if they fought. He would probably beat him to a pulp because that's what's best for Golovkin. The governing body is the one who should force him to fight his mandatory or vacate the title.

Alright man, I'm going to stop discussing this with you. You started out somewhat reasonable but now you're literally just arguing in favor of things being sh*tty and unjust because "boxing is a business".

No you have obviously misunderstood, I'm not trying to say that at all. I'm saying:

If Cotto retires/vacates and GGG never get's a shot at the lineal title that is not sh*tty or unjust. Fighters are not obligated to continue fighting or to fight at a weight if they don't want to.

Boxers will obviously do what is best for them, that is not ****ty or unjust imo. I am not against guys trying to do what is best for their careers (unless they are using PED's or something)

Governing bodies should enforce the mandatory bouts and if they don't, that is a bit ****ty and unjust. I'm not supporting governing bodies' failures to enforce mandatory bouts.

Funny how Sergio calling Cotto a diva has caught on so well. Dude should just drop the belt, work a Mayweather rematch and then retire. I kinda liked Cotto, but he's holding that belt hostage.

After a while these circular arguments make my head hurt.
