Cotto asked why he chose Geale over Golovkin (VID)

I was a big fan of 140 and 147 Cotto, but after watching this vid, this is the nail on the coffin titled "Respect for Miguel Cotto"

Sounds like you and the majority of others should write a letter to the WBC, based on your rationale of your whining.

 

I don't hate Cotto but that is no joke the first time I've been accused of being a Cotto fan. Nice try, sorry.

ESB is negatively holding Cotto to standards that they don't to other, more beloved fighters for doing the exact same things. Literally the exact same things and nobody bats an eyelash. So of course I am going to vocally express the argument that is being cast aside into the minority.

 

When a lineal champ is a farce it harms the integrity of the sport.

Lineage is the least confusing of the title claimants and should be much more prestigious.

When Briggs beat Foreman no one considered him the champ because it had lost value by that point.

Cotto is a risk of devaluing the MW title.

Now the way I see it, Geale is his chance of a supposed easy fight. Canelo is the superfight.

Golovkin has to be next.

That being said I favour Geale to win this matchup. I just hope the belts get unified to restore clarity.

 

If Cotto was at least honest I don't think people would mind as much. As it is he's scared to even mention Golovkin's name and is evasive if someone else brings him up. The fact he has the gall to say GGG hasn't fought a big name then fights a guy GGG annihilated says it all.

If Cotto loses to Geale it'll be on points, not by KO.

Cotto can then return to 154 to pursue a catchweight fight vs Canelo and thus avoid being brutally KTFO by GGG without losing face.

 

No one should defend Cotto for what he is doing, he is clearly hurting boxing. If you are suppose to be the linear champ (which he clearly isn't) then why not face the other (who really is the linear champ) GGG. Its a FCUKING FARCE that he is facing a guy like Geale when he should be facing GGG.

The real reason is he's milking as much money before he runs for the hills when he faces GGG. I used to respect Roach but he's talking far too much rubbish nowadays. Both he and Cotto know that he has near to 0 chance beating GGG. Even if they were the same size, GGG would still beat Cotto up, he is just a powerful guy at Middle, p4p one of the strongest.

Its a shame that boxers like Cotto are holding boxing ransom with their ducking and diving and silly catch weights. You have the Middleweight belt, you fight at 160 end of.

 

He has a 5 fights deal with Jay Z I guess there are not going to let him take multiple knees and get his face rearranged against GGG in the first fight. Gaele is a tune up and then the big money fight is Floyd or Canelo. That said him and Roach are irritating trying to downgrade Golovkin. But Golovkin and Sanchez are irritating trying to downgrade Ward. So that's life and that's the sad state of boxing the only sport where the best are not obliged to fight the best.

Note. Cotto is a champ at the same division as Golovkin unlike Ward.
