Trust me, Cottos actions and others like it hurt the sports reputation a lot more then some threads on a forum do.
No no no no... You're cool Ducklerr I wasn't implying YOU or anything. Despite our back and forth we are actually on the same page based on what you have said, just to different extents really. I play devil's advocate for Golovkin more than any fighter at the moment (for obvious, annoyance-based reasons).
And interesting how a few of the people I see trying to point out double standards, are rarely if ever pointing out the ones that aren't anti G in flavor. People left and right are calling on Golovkin to move up in weight to fight Ward and Froch (most ignorant of the fact G has been trying to get a Froch fight for over a year), and talk about him picking on smaller fighters (the champ of his division, and Canelo, a guy who sometimes even outweighs G himself) Yet Ward and Froch have never moved up themselves, and are given credit for wanting to poach middleweight of its fighters (G and Jr) The list is looonnnng of just such examples of double standards that rarely go noted by people who act as if theyre trying to be neutral.
I think he will do just that if he beats Canelo either that or he will lose the title to Canelo After that he'll probably drop back down to 154
I guess we'll never get a chance to see Cotto be GGG's Woman.:deal http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_rGs4ysA2_M
I'm sure Cotto would love to hear that some cretin with seven thousand posts on the internet has less respect for him than he might have. :tired:bart:dead:admin:!:
Quality response as usual. As for your very last statement, I think you have to realize that people won't type up 1,000 word posts to completely clarify their opinions on every aspect of the whole ordeal. You've got to admit (well, you already did) that Golovkin fanboys are more than vocal in their bold one sentence posts on the situation. Obviously it incites/invites response of equal lack-of-depth or statements of equal boldness (not sure if that's a word, but I'm going with it).
If Cotto fights Alvarez in October I think we can all agree it would be a bigger fight (even if it is not a better fight). And then would you all be saying that Cotto did what was best for the sport? I highly, highly doubt it.
I'm sure you are trying to hint at myself here. But I honestly do always point out that double standard as well. I've never said he should fight Ward or any 168'er unless the subject is of Golovkin's on-again-off-again willingness to fight anyone from 154-168, in which case I usually still say something along the lines of "no fighter should ever move up if they don't want to or see themselves unfit to compete at the same level," blah blah blah. I just tend not to be in those threads as they are def outweighed by threads stating the opposite.
Cotto is a Diva and a Quitter. If he thought Margarito messed his face up wait and see what the savage punching GGG does to it.
In response to the statement that the boxing community is kind of annoyed that you chose Geale, because he lost to Golovkin did Cotto just say: "Boxing community have to ask themselves what big name Golovkin has on his record? Is he saying Geale has a better resume than Golovkin because Geale fought Golovkin ... and Golovkin hasn't fought Golovkin yet? (LOL) I want to hear him say that. Someone ask that as a follow-up question -- "Miguel, does Geale have a better resume than Golovkin because he fought Golovkin and Golovkin hasn't fought Golovkin?" I demand he answer that.
I like Cotto as a fighter and I think the Geale fight will be a good one. It will be entertaining and full of action. GGG can wait and if he don't like waiting then just move up, he can get some work at 168 I'm sure, or he can fight Andy Lee cause Lee has expressed interest in that fight,( hold that Shiiit about the fight can't be made because it can) Cotto puts on good fights and I also would like to see him fight Canelo after the Geale. I'm just not ready to see GGG fight Cotto for a title. I don't like the mismatch in size and power.
